Govt receives Sh7 billion dividend from Puma Energy
Puma Energy Tanzania has issued Sh7 billion to the government as the latter’s dividend from the company’s profit for the 2016 calendar year.Speaking to Mwananchi Digital, the Puma Energy Tanzania board chairman, Dr Ben Moshi said the company registered a net profit of Sh25 billion in 2016.
He said the company would be able to issue more dividends to its shareholders if the government lives up to its promise of ensuring that more and more public institutions are able to do business with the oil marketing firm.
Last year, Puma issued Sh4.5 billion in dividend to the government from its (the company’s) 2015 profit.
Figures from the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority show that Puma is the leading oil marketing firm in the country.
