A shrine has been set on fire in Bataka-Nabbingo, Wakiso District, following its demolition by Uganda Railways officials during an exercise to clear land owned by the railway authority.

The incident comes as Uganda Railways continues demolishing structures built on its land, with some affected residents pleading for more time to vacate while others are demanding compensation.

The circumstances surrounding the burning of the shrine remain unclear.
