Suppose a snail is climbing up a slippery 30 cm wall. Each minute it climbs 5 cm,
but slides back 4 cm. How many minutes will it take the snail to reach the top of
the wall?

time = distance/speed
distance = 30cm
speed = (5-4)cm/1min = 1cm/min
therefore;It will take 30 mins

At the resultant rate of 1cm/min it'll take 30min to reach the top minus 4 minutes of not sliding back once reaching the top.
so the time used will be 26 minutes.

U got wrong mkuu..........

Mkuu ungetoa na muda anaotumia kushuka hizo 4cm. otherwize hesabu itakuwa haifanyiki. Au unataka tukuchoree ZOMBI....

muda wa kushuka uko ndani ya dakika moja

26 minutes. After 25 minutes it is 25 cm up the wall. During the 26th minute it
climbs over the top (5 cm) and doesn't slide back.

Chamoto I got the same answer(26 min.)

Each minute it climbs 5 cm, but slides back 4cm. If the my interpretation is correct, net climb is 1cm per minute. It should therefore take 30 minutes. Otherwise indicate sliding time for 4 cm.

The snail will remain where it is, because;
CLIMBING TIME = SLIDING TIME.

Provided that error is neglible on the situation ..
Each minute it will climb 1minute...
Hence it will take the snail 29 minutes...
But the answer is true if also take one minute to back slide......

If each minute the snail climbs 5 cm up and slips 4 cm down then it means each minute the snail climbs one cm high, so on the 25th minute the snail will be at 25 cm high, on the next minute it will climb 5 cm up to reach the height of 30 cm so that the snail will take a total of 26 minutes to reach the 30 cm height.

Though the puzzle was displayed on board yesterday, but the answer is definitely 26min.

26 minutes it is.....
