Chief Justice David Maraga travelled to his rural home in Nyamira County where he cast his vote in the repeat presidential election.

Mr Maraga, accompanied by his wife arrived at Bosose polling centre in West Mugirango constituency where he cast his vote at 1.55pm.

The CJ chatted briefly with Nyamira County Woman Rep Jerusha Momanyi before he cast his vote.

"I have finished my mission and I can now leave," he said.

He declined to answer questions from journalists.

"I am not ready to answer any question," he said.

On September 1, the Supreme Court nullified the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta and ordered fresh poll be conducted in 60 days.

The CJ agreed together with Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu, Smokin Wanjala and Isaac Lenaola that the electoral body messed up transmission of poll results.

Muache ujinga, kupiga kura kwa CJ is just symbolic that he respects other institutions put by the laws that he oversees. Nothing much, count any day, any time; if a case is filled against IEBC, he will do judgement in accordance to the laws of the country with constitution the mother law a reference! It is appalling how many Kenyans in here are too shallow on interpreting such a simple act by stateman CJ Maraga. Don't be foolishly excited! How he voted is his secret...

Well, I never thought such a day would ever dawn in God's green earth, but for once I agree with you. Of course not with the parts of "muache ujinga and foolishly" you need not abuse to make a point, but it is a valid point nonetheless.

Maraga as a bastion of the respect to law and the laid institutions set to safe guard, champion and implement them was much obliged to vote. No matter what he cast. A failure by him would show an erosion in inter-institutional trust and disrespect to the constitution. Especially given the fact that he's its key protector against Parliamentary manipulation.
