Governor Nanok faces off with Uhuru Kenyatta, Kenyatta loses his cool

President Uhuru Kenyatta engaged in a heated exchange with Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok over the sharing of oil revenue between the national and county governments.

The frosty relationship between Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok and Jubilee government played out during President Uhuru Kenyatta's tour of the arid county on Wednesday.

The governor sparked an angry reaction from the President after he criticised Government plans to amend the Petroleum Exploration and Production Bill to deny local communities 10 per cent oil share benefit as earlier proposed. The oil share benefit has been reduced to five per cent.

Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok, the ODM point man in the region, set the stage for the exchange after he said oil proceeds to the local community had been capped to 'nothing useful'.

Huyu governor anahitaji matusi though sio kuitwa shetani. Turkana gets 11-12B in devolved funds and guess which county is getting Kenya bad press for drought? Compare with what Machakos gets

Actually, on this I support the president. Why would someone say he (prezo) is stealing oil yet not even a single drop has been exported.
Again if nanok has issues with revenue sharing agreement, its not the president but Parliament that decides that, so he should consult his mps and senator. Senate speaker is actually from turkana.
He was into cheap and stupid politics and the president put him in his place. Trying to subvert national interest for cheap political gains. That is ushetani.

When a group of people come together and decide to Join and Form A govt we create a state

That same Group can also decide to Get out and Go on its own and with the 2010 constitution any County that feels Kenya is not its Burden can similarly Hold Campaigns after it attains about 1mn signatures and Vote itseld out of Kenya

So Turkana Can Decide well
We are only 1.25mn people
We have a large Lake
We have 270bn m3 of under ground water that could last them 300yrs
We have 2bn barrels of oil Current Valuation = 120bn$
And above all Turkana is Larger than Israel

So lets Create a republic of Turkana for us

Man you have lost it. The oil discovered actually belongs to Kenya. Not turkana. Second, Kenya is a state. No-one can just secede. Hiyo ni treason my friend. And lastly the president and CIC has sworn to protect every inch of Kenya from both internal and external aggression.
If $1trillion worth of gold was discovered under your sitting room, utafurushwa. Story utaandika kitabu.
So there are systems put in place to address any concern.
The over 10b they receive from treasury, what's their contributions as turkana from taxes. Zilch. But they are given coz its part of Kenya.
