President John Pombe Magufu- li’s “No Lockdown” policy in the containment of the Covid-19 or Corona-Virus pandemic is now being adopted by leaders in the developed and developing countries alike. This is a reluctant acknowl- edgement that the Tanzanian President has been right all along and the critics who initially mocked him were patently wrong.
However, while keeping the nation’s workplaces and prayer venues open, the President directed the people to strictly adhere to the medical directives of frequent hand-washing and use of sanitizers, as well as observance of the social distancing requirement. This policy has produced lower overall number of infections and a far lower death count than countries that embraced the lockdown wholesale, but above all, this approach has kept our economy robust Dr. Magufuli (an industrial chemist) outrightly rejected the developed countries’ demands of curbing the spread of the virus through blanket lockdown, which literally required the shutting down of all economic and social activities.
In Third World countries where the provision of universal state benefits to mitigate the impact of such a decree is virtually non-existent and where people have to work today so as to eat tomorrow, such a lockdown would be not only nonsensical and
morally repugnant but also poten tially murderous - and the fact that there are African leaders who acquiesced to such cruel demands defies belief. Demonstrators who broke all the lockdown protocols in Kenya, South Africa and elsewhere were
heard loud and clear chanting that they would rather die of Coronavirus than to die of hunger.
They had a point. Nor is that all; lockdowns can also be tantamount to economic suicide. In Tanzania, for example, over 80 per cent the country’s tax revenues come from the Dar Es Salaam region; so shutting down Dar Es Salaam amounts to the destruction of the nation’s economy. Anybody who does not find that prospect frightening is not thinking straight and leaders of the opposition parties who criticised President Magufuli for shunning a lockdown approach show how dangerous those people can be to our nation’s future peace and prosperity.
Some people may ask whether Magafuli’s stand puts the economy above the lives of people. The answer is no, because a collapsed economy would kill far more people than the Coronavirus. Battered economies kill people through malnutrition,
civil unrest, suicide and mental illness, collapse of medical care and social infrastructure leading to failed states such as the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Another very dubious proposal which was put forward by the so-called developed countries, and which once again President
Magufuli declined, was the idea of pushing loans to developing nations to help them deal with the crisis. To be burdened with
loans in the middle of a crisis can hardly be called help. That was, in my view, a trap calculated at keeping poor nations heavily indebted and therefore even further compliant to the loan-givers.
President Magufuli instead asked for debt relief. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved a small debt relief of US$14.3m in June 2020; and that to me is a lot better than the US$1billion loan given to Kenya by the World Bank
the previous month. The Efficacy of testing kits. The most touted diagnostic testing kit for Covid-19 is the PCR, (Polymerase Chain Reaction); however, its efficacy is very con troversial. According to the manufacturer of PCR test kit, Creative Diagnostics: “... Don’t use the test result alone to diagnose infection or disease. .... Although this company states the test can detect COVID, it also states the test can read FALSELY positive if the patient has one of a number of other irrelevant viruses in his body.” Is it possible that the World Health Organization (WHO) was not aware of these caveats from the PCR maker? Why did WHO go along with the locking-down of nations on an unproven testing kit?
When President Magufuli sus- pected an exaggeration of thepositive test results for Covid-19from the national laboratory, hedecided to do his own unortho-dox way of testing the tests. He secretly sent to the laboratory, swabs from a sheep, goat, pawpaw fruit, car oil and a quail. The samples were given human names, complete with their ages. The fruit, the bird and one of the animals came back positive.
The result for car oil was undetermined and the second animal was negative. President Magufuli’s tests confirmed the kit’s
manufacture’s precautions cited above. Why did WHO encourage the shutting down of the world on a false pretence? What is WHO’s hidden agenda? Covid Organics – a traditional cure The WHO’s refusal to recognize Covid Organics, which is based
on an African traditional herbal cure for Covid-19 discovered in Madagascar, is raising eye-brows in many countries in Africa.
The WHO’s explanation is that, because the cure has not been approved by itself, it is dangerous; but this is a traditional cure and WHO has no experts in this field so how can it prove something it has no knowledge of? The most potent proof of Covid Organics’ effectiveness is its healing powers. Patients use the medicine and get cured; and healthy people can use it to enhance their immune systems to fight off the virus - what more proof does WHO need?
In conclusion country after country, from Europe to America, from Asia to Africa, are now in the active process of reversing their lockdowns, in many cases after very high death tolls despite their lockdown policies – so President
Magufuli has been vindicated.
There is absolutely nothing wrong in copying a good thing, so Afri- can leaders should start acting on what is best for their people. Covid-19 is real and it kills. However, the danger level has been blown out of all proportion with the objective of creating global hysteria and justifying the imposition of mandatory vaccination so filling the bank accounts of Big Pharma companies and their shareholders.
