The Bank of Uganda is studying the feasibility of printing Uganda’s currency locally as the government seeks to reduce the cost of outsourcing banknote production.
The move is also aimed at strengthening Uganda’s capacity to produce sensitive security documents domestically, potentially reducing reliance on foreign printers for critical national documents.
