Leadership is not the art of being loved by everyone. The moment you stand firmly for something, make difficult decisions, or refuse to bend simply to please others, someone will dislike you for it.

That is why enduring hatred can be considered one of the first disciplines of power.

A weak leader becomes a prisoner of approval. He changes direction whenever criticism grows loud, sacrifices principles to protect popularity, and eventually loses himself trying to satisfy everyone.

A strong leader listens to criticism without allowing every voice to control him. He understands that being misunderstood, criticized, or even hated can sometimes be the price of responsibility.

This does not mean hatred proves you are right. Wisdom still requires humility and self-examination.

But if your conscience is clear and your principles are sound, you cannot allow another person's hatred to become your compass.

Sometimes leadership begins when the need to be respected becomes stronger than the need to be liked.
