About the organization
The Kibaigwa Food Supplies is a high tech Food processing company, with other community capacity buiding programs where is working. currently KFS isimplementing 2
programmes (food production and participatory
(agricultural) extension) for the period
2016-2019 Dodoma (possible extension up
to 2025). The Agriculture programme aims to
strengthen methodological extension skills, in
particular participatory extension skills, of
stakeholders involved in agricultural
extension, contribute to a better performing
extension system in central corridor,
Partners for the implementation are the
Department of Agriculture and rural development, Agricultural (and Livestock), extension centre, agrodealers, Women’s groups, and farmers’ Association in the central coridor and beyond.
He/she will always provide a link between KFS and
farmers to ensure knowledge and information
is shared to improve production and sustainability.
Responsibilities and Opportunities Offered
The selected applicant will:
Tasks
Encourage farm managers to adopt best
practice techniques by providing exposure to
new knowledge, information, skills, inputs and
processes
Assess individual properties and making
technical recommendations for improved
production and sustainability
Collaborate with primary producers in
industry development and research trials
Identify and interpret current research needs
for regional communities and enterprises
Suggest research priorities to research
committees
Organise and manage field days, speak at
grower groups, write fact sheets and
publications, present courses
Personal Requirements
-communication skills
-computer skills
-understanding of industry organisational skills
-listening skills
-ability to work alone or as part of a team
-problem solving skills.
- plan and organize training sessions,
workshops for para-extensionists and contracted farmers.
- develop the promotion and awareness of
participatory approaches in the agriculture cum livestock
extension (district, village
levels) and others through workshops,
- prepare trainings, development of materials (leaflets,
…) and instruments;
- assure the quality of all the training sessions;
- organize follow-up of activities to the
training;
- coordinate and manage the activities with our development partners ;
- develop and ensure good relationship with
the partners from national to village level;
- report on project activities and results;
- be responsible for a sound financial
management;
- support programme planning and budget
activities.
- other duties as required by GM or magements.
Requirements
- have agriculture , livestock certificates/diploma or similar through
experience;
- have a strong understanding of agricultural
extension and farm system and policies;
- have a vision on how the participatory
approaches can be developed and
strengthened in the agricultural extension;
- be Tanzanian citizen;
- have minimum 2 years work experience in
project management, preferably in extension
and training as well as in community based
project;
- assure progress over time, and quality of
your own processes ;
- be able to work independently and in a
team;
- be proactive, flexible and creative;
- have excellent knowledge and skills in
English, both written and oral;
- have excellent communication skills.
Duty station
This full time position will be located in Kibaigwa Township.
Agricultural Extension officer coordinates with the
coordinator of the Programme. Regular
working trips to the seected pilot area, are part of
the assignment as well as to the programme
offices.
Remuneration and benefits
Salary and package according to Tz scales, including social - and health
benefits.
Starting date
As soon as possible
Duration
First phase is up to 31/06/2017, but renewable annually depending to individual perfomance with possible extension up to 2025!
