Lucio calls for friendly focus
Updated: June 6, 2010
Brazil captain Lucio has called for "World Cup spirit'' in Monday's friendly against Tanzania in Dar es Salaam.
Lucio urged his side to respect their opponents and make the most of their final warm-up match before the finals get under way on Friday.
"We have to go onto the field with huge determination and World Cup spirit,'' the Inter Milan defender said.
"It is not a competitive game, but our enthusiasm and will should be the same as in the World Cup."
With several big-name players of other countries dropping out of the finals because of injury recently, Lucio urged his Selecao team-mates to exercise caution in training.
"Injuries can happen any time, but we have to be careful and pay attention in training to avoid risky plays," Lucio said.
"When you are on the field to train or playing with fear of getting injured, it finally happens. I beg God to bless and protect us.''
Brazil play their first match in the World Cup against North Korea on June 15.
