President William Ruto has gazetted three vacancies available at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC); Chairperson and two other commissioners.
This follows lapse of the tenure of IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati as well as Commissioners Abdi Yakub Guliye and Molu Boya on 17th January, 2023 following their appointment on 18th January, 2017.
“Whereas, paragraph 1 (1) of the First Schedule of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Act requires that at least six (6) months before the lapse of the term of the Chairperson or Member of the Commission, the President shall appoint a Selection Panel consisting of seven (7) persons for purposes of appointment of the Chairperson or Member of the Commission,” the gazette notice read.
