Msiba mkubwa: Adam Lusekelo Mwakang'ata

imekuja kama habari ya kushtua sana kwangu. nimepata simanzi ya nguvu moyoni mwangu. ile column ya bw. lusekelo ilikuwa oftentimes ndiyo highlight ya siku yangu! i am going to miss it terribly! safari njema kaka yangu adam! may you find that light that we keep seeking for in vain in this life.

Too SAD.

Nakumbuka makala zake mbili hadi leo:

1. Moja ilikuwa kuhusu safari yake kupanda Mlima Kilimanjaro.

RIP Adam

Huyu bila shaka alikuwa mmoja wa maadui wengi wa marehemu. Probably a 'victim' of one of Adam's pen-punches. Anyhow, must be some kind of azzhole.

(sorry about earlier post, forgot to add quote.)

THE United Nations Deputy Secretary General, Dr Asha Rose Migiro, has expressed her sorrow in her message of condolence, following the sudden death of a seasoned and veteran journalist, Mr Adam Lusekelo (54).

Mr Lusekelo passed away while being rushed to Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) on Thursday night.

"His passing is a huge loss to his family and many friends. It's an irreparable loss to the media fraternity and Tanzania in general. My prayers and sympathy go to his family at this time of unbearable grief," reads her message in part.

Dr Migiro appreciated the late Lusekelo's "ability to write about the vices in society in a subtle, profound and yet very humorous way, while touching the lives of many ordinary people."

"I have been reading Adam's articles since our University years, and continued to do so, until very recently in my current responsibilities. I will miss Adam's pen!" she said.

The deceased's wife Scolastica Lusekelo said on Friday: "He didn't even reach the hospital. He breathed his last on the way at around 11:00 pm."

The 'Sunday News' columnist has been battling diabetes for a long time and was surviving on medication.

TSN Acting Managing Editor Mkumbwa Ally also mourned the death of one of journalism's most gifted writers.

Burial arrangements are being made at his home at Ubungo Maziwa, but the body is likely to be transported to his home district of Rungwe in Mbeya, his wife said.

The late Lusekelo is survived by a wife and three children, two daughters and a son. He worked with TSN briefly in the 1980s before joining BBC as a correspondent based in Dar es Salaam.
