James Kidiga David, a teacher at Kiara Secondary School in Musoma, Tanzania, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Varkey Foundation Global Teacher Prize 2023.
The prize, which is worth $1 million (Sh2.5 billion), is awarded to one exceptional teacher who has made an outstanding contribution to the profession.
Kidiga David was selected from over 7,000 nominations and applications from 130 countries around the world.
He is one of only 50 teachers to make the shortlist, and he is the first Tanzanian teacher to ever be nominated for the prize.
