The decision of a Russian neo-Nazi mercenary group stopping fighting in protest against the Kremlin indirectly helped Ukraine to make a major breakthrough on the front line.
“Robotyne has been released”, announced on August 28 the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Hanna Maliar.

Petrovsky, Russian-Norwegian dual nationality, he co-founded Rusich in 2014 to participate in the Russian occupation of Donbas. In addition, it is believed that at one time he was a contractor for the Wagner group.
In a series of messages captured by the Anti-Fascist Europe research project, Rusich members expressed their frustration at their treatment by the Russian authorities.
“If the country cannot protect its citizens, why should the citizens protect the country?” asked one.
According to him Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the group appeared to be operating near Robotyne in western Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
Is described as “a critical area of the front line where the Russian military command probably cannot afford to have units.”
Shortly after ISW published its analysis, Robotyne fell to Ukraine.
