CCM picks Dr Slaa's namesake for Karatu constituency

WHETHER it is by coincidence or CCM's strategy, the party has nominated a person known as Dr Willbard Slaa to vie for the Karatu constituency in Karatu District, Arusha region.
The new CCM's candidate's names and title sound like the names of the former Karatu MP, Dr Wilbroad Slaa who is now running for presidency on the opposition CHADEMA ticket.
The choice of Dr Willbard Slaa to compete for the seat formerly occupied by Dr Wilbroad Slaa, according to observers, here will give the opposition party, CHADEMA, a difficult time during campaigns in the area and may even confuse some voters who in the past 15 years have been used to the name ‘Slaa' as their representative to the National Assembly.
In Manyara, Mr Christopher Ole Sendeka, was once more nominated to run for the Simanjiro Constituency by leading in 15 out of the 18 wards of the vast District.
Minister Philip Marmo was again allowed to compete for the Mbulu area seat where he may face CHADEMA's Mustafa Akonaay as his major opposition competitor.
Dr Mary Nagu, also retains her party's blessing to represent CCM in the Hanang' constituency in Manyara region.
