The Zanzibar Attorney General has enough evidence now to implicate and incriminate CUF in a political plot to strangulate the Isles economically, politically and socially by masquerading as the winner of all previous elections in the Isles, but, in fact it wasnt.
Habari hizo zinasema zaidi kuwa Should the Zanzibar Attorney General see it fit, then, he is empowered by the Zanzibar Constitution to banish CUF at any time.
This wouldnt be a surprise to many of us after the Leaders of the Party openly confessed at a mass rally in Zanzibar few days ago that they recognized that Karume and not Seif Sharrif Hamad was the legitimate Ruler of Zanzibar.
Banning CUF in the Isles would be a huge surprise to the Registrar of political parties in Tanzania, who just few days ago saw a hope of having an inclusive government in Zanzibar.
This would send a stern warning to party leaders not only in Zanzibar but throughout Tanzania to either accept the results of an election or if not, then to prove it through a court of law and not to play around with peoples lives for their own benefit - one of the sources from Dar Es Salaam lambasted on the phone, when asked what precedent this would set for the Isles.
Banning CUF in Zanzibar would automatically disqualify the Party from running on the Mainland in 2010, as then it would not be a national party representing all Tanzanians.
One commentator close to the top brass of CCM when asked of the complexity of the situation had this to say, If this will happen, Kikwete will not interfere, as he would prefer to work with the Afro Shirazi hardcore zealots than with the wayward Hamad who wants to take the Isles off the Union map.
According to our sources, Shamhunas previous statements on the issue are a prelude to the impending demise of CUF in the Isles.
