The Former Tanzania Tourism Board (TTB) Managing Director, Mr Peter Mwenguo (64) died in Dar es Salaam on Monday after succumbing to stroke.
The late Peter Mwenguo
The TTB Principal Public Relations Officer, Mr Geoffrey Tengeneza, told the ‘Daily News' in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday that Mwenguo had been admitted to Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH)'s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where he died at around 10.00am.
"His health started deteriorating recently while on his way back from America where he went to attend a graduation ceremony for one of his children. He was forced to undergo treatment on the way and shortly after arriving in Dar es Salaam he suffered a stroke," he said.
Mr Tengeneza further added that the late Mwenguo has been attending clinics at MNH for a while before he was recently admitted. He noted that burial arrangements were still being finalized and mourners are gathered at his home in Mwenge, Dar es Salaam, located at Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) flats opposite TRA's Mwenge offices.
The late Mwenguo joined the TTB in October 22, 1993 as a Director of Marketing, the position he held for six year before he was promoted and became the TTB's MD in 1999. He served at that capacity until October 22, 2008 when he retired in accordance to the law. He was, however, re-employed on a special contract at the same capacity until December 20, 2009.
