East Africa Should Let Tanzania Go...

They can go to hell, we are clever now and don't need any exploitation! We will be EAC with the same rules!

Tanzania is behaving badly. Something has spoilt the people of hela and dala dala. They are clearly growing horns and something needs to be done about it before they begin thinking they are the regional bullyboys. In the village, neighbours drop by unannounced for a cup of tea every now and then. Thus, a few months ago, President Museveni of Uganda dropped by the cattle boma of President Kagame of Rwanda. Over a cup of tea, they agreed to bury their past disagreements and forge new relations. Shortly afterwards, President Kagame paid a revenge Christmas visit to Uganda. Since then, matters have been smooth between those two countries.

Makerere

Downhere, President Kibaki paid a visit to his alma mater, Makerere University, the other day. Apparently, he was so sharp a learner that he was invited back to teach at Makerere shortly after graduation. At any rate, he received an honorary doctorate thanking him for his service to the institution, had a chat with President Museveni and flew back home.

Hardly a couple of weeks later, President Museveni dropped by Kisumu to preside over a harambee. Never mind that, in days past, he had taken to calling our Prime Minister’s people "hii wanjaruo" in that inimitable Nyankole-accented "chiswahili" that he speaks so well.
Well, bygones are bygones, and President Museveni is now Ruoth — senior elder of the Luo Nation.

Noisy stink

Not so Tanzanian leaders. Tanzania is cold and haughty where East African matters are concerned. They attend East African Community (EAC) meetings only to throw spanners in the works. Double standards reign in that country. Evidence is everywhere.

A few days ago, the Kenya-Tanzania border crossing had to be closed after Kenyans did what we do best: raise a noisy stink over double standards.

You see, because of our good neighbourliness and some EAC protocols that we have signed, Tanzanians can drive into Kenya and conduct their business here with no problem. No charges, no permits, no questions asked. But the reverse is not true for Dar. Kenyans who want to drive into Tanzania for business must cough US$200 (Sh16,400) each time they cross the border.

Tanzania’s GDP per person per month is a mere US$100 (Sh8,200), so every Kenyan vehicle that crosses into that country pays the equivalent of two Tanzanians’ monthly economic output.

Even passenger vehicles are not spared the levies. And it doesn’t stop there. Whereas Tanzanians visiting Kenyan public facilities — like game parks — are charged the concessionary rates that Kenyans and other East Africans pay, Kenyans doing the same in Tanzania are charged exorbitant "tourist" levies. These guys are also hell bent on sport hunting, notwithstanding the fact that our elephants routinely stroll across the common border.

Kwaheri

Which explains why President Jakaya Kikwete hasn’t seen it fit to drop by Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda or even Burundi for a cup of chai. Why should he? Tanzania — with their South African sounding national anthem — after all, pays little more than lip service to the idea of East African cooperation, enraptured as it is by the glittering prospects offered up by South Africa.

The time has come to bid kwaheri to Tanzania and move on with EAC integration.

MY TAKE: Kenya have managed to work on something on the rest of EAC member countries but when it comes to Tanzania it's not that easy.

It's like a woman forcing herself to a man! You know that we don't want the integration and you still push for the same! Are you like women forcing to men? I would wonder some one who knows that he had married a woman that stolen his air crafts and then the same woman needs a re union for the second time? History is clear and am telling you this is just wastage of time, just charge the same for Tanzania cars, what is the matter? We have been saying this, you guys know good English so you speak it better with Ugandans not us with our broken English! Just take your time and go! Even if kikwete drinks tea by himself but we don't like you guys especially Kenyans, we can do it with Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, even Congo but not kenya! Leave us alone!

Not even Ugandans, Rwandans, Burundians...the same shoot! Maybe SADC hawana njaa kama hawa, not unruly pia!

Kenya thinks may be they don't need us but they definitely do need us..

Tungeuona matokeo tungekubali. Mambo ya kusema kenyans have an attitude problem inaeza kuwa ukweli because at a very low level citizens might have an attitude. Badala ya kuleta matusi, ningefurahi kuona watu wakichallenge if they r right in their own respect.

Nimeona mwingine akisema Yakwamba tanzania is the breadbasket of East Africa, na hajui kuna great disparities kati ya rural tanzania na the upperclass tanzania kwa maswala ya chakula na ukame, makazi, na misingi za elimu. Educations in tanzania is a class factor, but in kenya is mandatory to every social group whether poor or rich. That is why we are having very many ignoramuses in this thread colluding here in ignorance.

to me its vice-verse, Kenya is like a man forcing himself to a woman (Tz), he knows despite all that 'I dont want you' facade she's putting on, all those dates she didn't show up, all that money he spent to woe that dumb, lazy blonde, he'll eventually get her to bed, tap that, and he'll be on to the next one.

Kenya thinks may be they don't need us but they definitely do need us..

naaah, we need you, probably more than you'll ever know.. thats why we'll always maintain the ''peace'' we have and entrench the EAC in your system so that we can finish taking what the white man left.

This EAC it's not the same like the one in 1967 so if you're thinking you gonna poke nose in make things easier for yourself it ain't that easy that's why now we hear all this crying from you Kenyans

Quite frankly Tanzania has more cordial relatioship with neighbours to the south than those in the EAC. Countries like Mozambique Zambia and even Zimbabwe hold Tanzania in high esteem and respect for various reasons. The countries the south also are politically stable. I would like to think that developing closer economic and political ties with neighbours to the south wuld be more advantageous in the long run.

we are crying because of the levies charged at the borders, this will eventually be charged to the final consumers of the products, which will lead to inflation.. that's not something to be proud of and I'm pretty sure some govt officials are busy trying to reverse it coz its not sustainable and is not meant to help Tanzania in the long run.

I thought that's what SADC is for, and you have been members there for a while now, wonder what benefit beside being a market for S.A's products you have achieved ever since you put pen to paper.. you have all the rights to join which ever trading blocks you find beneficial to you. East Africa Community is beneficial to Kenya, that's why we tout for it, if it wasnt beneficial and the public was against it, we would have given our reason and got our step on, thats the difference between you and us, we fight for what we believe in and you on the other hand only complain vijiweni and now in forums.

Kenya economy depend on Tanzania, without Tanzania Kenya is nothing. Its time now for Manyan'au kutambua kuwa Tanzania haitaki gozigozi. Manyang'au its time to pack and go back home. To hell EAC

Though the post above was someone's opinion but i am not surprised that to be a view of many Kenyans! A visit of Museveni to fund raise for Great Lakes University or private visits between Museveni and Kagame are that enough to run their mouths that Museveni is very friendlier to Kenya and Rwanda respectively and isolates Tanzania! how seditious (on the part of other members) can that be on the integration? If the words are so then where was he during the mayhem of PEV ? That's narrow thinking to be fair and i assume the writer to be not a journalist otherwise Journalism in Kenya is in shambles!

Tanzania is the one that is slowly isolating itself from the rest of the EAC members as clearly showcased when its representatives fail to turn up to meet other participants in the bloc. Consequently, your actions fully commits where your agenda lies. Museveni on the other hand knows that it would be impossible to run affairs on his own. hence the meeting with Kagame and Kibaki and Raila

Dr. Kitila, its true that we need each other, but we've come to a point where we're tired of this nonsense we here from Kenyans. They are arrogant to the point they show clearly that they don't care about us (the people) but they care about their own interests. They want us to join EAC without even expressing our concerns! They want us join just because Kenyans want us to! Who the hell are they?

Ndo maana wenzetu esp west, hawasemi, ooh kuna alkaeda so hatutaki mafuta yale kwasababu wanatuita infidels!

What we should concentrate on, right here, right now, ni implications za intergration economicwise, then we can disscuss how the economy will impact our social lives after the intergration of our nations, and there maybe emotions can be exposed.

Lakini kwa kuanzia, tuingie kwenye mjadala bila emotions, Dr Kitila na wengine nimeshawauliza, kuna manufaa gani kwetu kujiunga achilia mbali kama Kenyan's are arrogant or not?

Ama basi tu umoja ni nguvu?lol

Tuanzie hapo...
