East Africa Should Let Tanzania Go...

Bora wao wanawapeleka kwenye hizo court of law, nyie vipi mnaibiwa 100m USD mchana kweupe na hakuna hata prosecution moja na bila aibu eti mnaambiwa na viongozi wenu hawajui nani anamiliki Richmond...lol!

Goldenberg = one fifth of the Kenya's GDP, gone (with the wind?). Moi bado anadunda! Thanks for lecturing us!

Ndugu Kitila, we need each other, but still we ought to move carefully.

Nini kilipelekea East African Fedaration ku collapse to begin with? Are we able and willing to take corrective actions as to where we had failed and maybe take it to the next level? Can we?

Je unaweza kuniambia ni kwa namna gani tunawahitaji majirani hao zaidi ya market for our goods that we dont even have?

Sio vizuri kuingia kichwa kichwa kwenye ushiriakino ili nchi moja iwe supplier mwingine awe cosumer tu .

Jmushi1,

I couldn't agree with you more with what you have stipulated. There a lot of issues that we must analyze carefully before jumping into EAC's bandwagon. The model, the EU, we have been trying to mimic is on the verge of collapsing and we are still doing the same thing and hoping for different results.

Hey, don't behave as arrogantly as they do. At the end of the day there will be no difference. We certainly need each other!

With due respect, I am not behaving arrogantly, I am just telling the truth. Why are they making all this noise about Tanzania willingness? If they didn't badly need us in the federation, I am sure they will not be making all these unnecessary fuss on us. - They can go ahead, we will join them on the way when we are satisfied that there is nothing sinister ..... as was in the defunct EAC.

Tanzania kama nch can't stand without Kenya, otherwise we rely on South Africa products or junk products from China

Mkuu hakuna madongo hapo, acha woga.

Mitansania nayo bwana, mmmmhu!

Tanzania is behaving badly. Something has spoilt the people of hela and dala dala. They are clearly growing horns and something needs to be done about it before they begin thinking they are the regional bullyboys. In the village, neighbours drop by unannounced for a cup of tea every now and then. Thus, a few months ago, President Museveni of Uganda dropped by the cattle boma of President Kagame of Rwanda. Over a cup of tea, they agreed to bury their past disagreements and forge new relations. Shortly afterwards, President Kagame paid a revenge Christmas visit to Uganda. Since then, matters have been smooth between those two countries.

Makerere

Downhere, President Kibaki paid a visit to his alma mater, Makerere University, the other day. Apparently, he was so sharp a learner that he was invited back to teach at Makerere shortly after graduation. At any rate, he received an honorary doctorate thanking him for his service to the institution, had a chat with President Museveni and flew back home.

Hardly a couple of weeks later, President Museveni dropped by Kisumu to preside over a harambee. Never mind that, in days past, he had taken to calling our Prime Minister’s people "hii wanjaruo" in that inimitable Nyankole-accented "chiswahili" that he speaks so well.
Well, bygones are bygones, and President Museveni is now Ruoth — senior elder of the Luo Nation.

Noisy stink

Not so Tanzanian leaders. Tanzania is cold and haughty where East African matters are concerned. They attend East African Community (EAC) meetings only to throw spanners in the works. Double standards reign in that country. Evidence is everywhere.

A few days ago, the Kenya-Tanzania border crossing had to be closed after Kenyans did what we do best: raise a noisy stink over double standards.

You see, because of our good neighbourliness and some EAC protocols that we have signed, Tanzanians can drive into Kenya and conduct their business here with no problem. No charges, no permits, no questions asked. But the reverse is not true for Dar. Kenyans who want to drive into Tanzania for business must cough US$200 (Sh16,400) each time they cross the border.

Tanzania’s GDP per person per month is a mere US$100 (Sh8,200), so every Kenyan vehicle that crosses into that country pays the equivalent of two Tanzanians’ monthly economic output.

Even passenger vehicles are not spared the levies. And it doesn’t stop there. Whereas Tanzanians visiting Kenyan public facilities — like game parks — are charged the concessionary rates that Kenyans and other East Africans pay, Kenyans doing the same in Tanzania are charged exorbitant "tourist" levies. These guys are also hell bent on sport hunting, notwithstanding the fact that our elephants routinely stroll across the common border.

Kwaheri

Which explains why President Jakaya Kikwete hasn’t seen it fit to drop by Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda or even Burundi for a cup of chai. Why should he? Tanzania — with their South African sounding national anthem — after all, pays little more than lip service to the idea of East African cooperation, enraptured as it is by the glittering prospects offered up by South Africa.

The time has come to bid kwaheri to Tanzania and move on with EAC integration.

This article has been written by Peter Wanyonyi from the Standard News Paper of Kenya

MY TAKE: Kenya have managed to work on something on the rest of EAC member countries but when it comes to Tanzania it's not that easy.
It's like a woman forcing herself to a man! You know that we don't want the integration and you still push for the same! Are you like women forcing to men? I would wonder some one who knows that he had married a woman that stolen his air crafts and then the same woman needs a re union for the second time? History is clear and am telling you this is just wastage of time, just charge the same for Tanzania cars, what is the matter? We have been saying this, you guys know good English so you speak it better with Ugandans not us with our broken English! Just take your time and go! Even if kikwete drinks tea by himself but we don't like you guys especially Kenyans, we can do it with Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, even Congo but not kenya! Leave us alone!

Dr. Kitila, its true that we need each other, but we've come to a point where we're tired of this nonsense we here from Kenyans. They are arrogant to the point they show clearly that they don't care about us (the people) but they care about their own interests. They want us to join EAC without even expressing our concerns! They want us join just because Kenyans want us to! Who the hell are they? Wasituletee mchezo, tuko tayari kuitetea na kuilinda nchi yetu vyovyote iwavyo.

... There we go again-trying to play 'patriotic tz citizens'!Let's just admit that we don't have a good foreign policy! One would expect us to come up with strategies to tap into Rwanda's emerging economy, but we have done nothing. What have we done to benefit from China-an emerging superpower? Fake products? Chinese are in every big construction project in various parts of our country-that should have given our leaders a bargaining chip as far as our foreign policy is concerned.
It is a fact that our president does not have close ties with his counterparts in EAC-this is not a good sign. Are we wondering why Somalis are traversing all the way to Morogoro without being stopped anywhere in neighboring countries? Good relationships with neighbors can help protect our borders. Acute shortage of sugar in Uganda led to an increase in price levels in Tanzania. Lots and lots of bags of sugar bags were smuggled into uganda-can't this be attributed to a poor diplomatic relationship between ug and tz? We seem to be very good when it comes to begging aid from western powers that we forget that there a lot we can achieve from our neighbors!
Is it a secret that our president has failed miserably to command attention of his peers in EAC-save for the 2007 mediation in Kenya? How many EAC presidents attended our 50th independence anniversally? Zilch!

75% of us rejected the EAC federation are you the 25%????:A S-coffee:

You mean foreign trade policy, sio foreign policy! That's funny.

So, if you don't want the EAC, why are you lot getting so worked up that a Kenyan is saying that you should be allowed out?

Who is getting worked out?.Tanzanians are saying very clearly "We Are not interested and please dont rush us" If you are a man you must know what is to force yourself on a woman who is not intersted in you. And if you are a she you will know what it is to try to conjugate with a he who is not ready for you. He might fail to achieve an erection.
