WO police officers have been injured in a blast in Jakarta, which occurred when they opened the package about 8pm (AEDT).
One of the officers has lost an arm in the blast, according to local station Metro TV.
A security officer working at the building was also injured in the blast, as was another person in the vicinity at the time of the explosion.
Jakarta police chief Sutarman said the explosion occurred before the bomb squad arrived, when another officer already on the scene attempted to open the package.
"It had been localised for the bomb squad. The bomb squad hadn't arrived, when the head of detectives for East Jakarta District Police came," Sutarman said.
"He did something with it, the bomb exploded."
The package containing the bomb was wrapped in brown paper, and also contained a book and a letter addressed to Abdalla.
