There is a female condom on the market which was designed to catch rapists. The Rape-aXe, introduced by inventor Sonette Ehlers in 2005, is inserted into the vagina like a diaphragm. It is a latex sheath lined with microscopic barbs which snag a rapists penis as it enters the latex sheath, causing him pain during withdrawal and (ideally) giving the victim time to escape. The condom remains attached to the attacker's body when he withdraws and have to be removed surgically, which would alert hospital staff and police. This device assists in the identification and prosecution of rapists. Sonette Ehlers is a South African woman who was motivated to create the condom while working as a blood technician with the South African Blood Transfusion Service, during which time she met and treated many rape victims. She said she was inspired to create Rape-aXe when a patient who had been raped stated: If only I had teeth down there. RapeX was unveiled on August 31, 2005 in South Africa. Mass production is supposed to have began in April last year. Critics have objected to Ehlers invention as vengeful, horrible, and disgusting and oppose its planned sale. http://newvision.co.ug/D/9/470/629144 Kazi kwenu.... if only pple knew when the rapist was going to strike!!!!!
