The top brass of the military and intelligence had told him that, if he attacked Iran, it would defend itself by closing Hormuz.
He had received not one but a whopping three letters, from seventy-six retired generals, in which they told him: "Please, don't do this foolish thing" (attacking Iran).
They had told him that beyond Hormuz, there was a real risk that they would also close Bab el Mandeb, and that in the meantime the Houthis could attack Jazan, Yanbu and the East-West pipeline, the energy heart of Saudi Arabia, not to mention the US bases in the Middle East.
He had also ignored the appeals of numerous European politicians, who had sent him a twenty-page report explaining exactly why this war would blow up in his face.
But nothing doing, it went in one ear and out the other—"shot" one, no less.
And to think that only 24% of Republicans had supported the attacks before even trying diplomacy.
But nothing doing, Trump decided to go his own way anyway and now the whole world is paying the consequences.
But even the Americans had been warned about how dangerous Trump was, and they too went their own way, didn't they.
So at this point, you deserve it.
And we deserve it too.
