ISLAMABAD - Pakistan has banned events marking Valentine’s Day, and media coverage of them, for the second year in a row after a court ruled the holiday un-Islamic.

The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) issued an advisory on Wednesday warning television and radio stations against any Valentine’s Day celebrations.

“No event shall be held at the official level or at any public place,” Pemra said.

The ban was introduced by Islamabad High Court last year after a petition by a citizen who said the 14 February holiday was a cultural import from the West and “against the teachings of Islam”.

More than 60% of the population of the Muslim-majority nation is aged under 30. Many young people and commercial establishments have in recent years embraced Valentine’s Day hearts, flowers and chocolates.

What a coincidence! Na ni mwaka huu baada ya miaka mingi mwezi Februari na Machi tarehe zao kuangukia siku za juma zinazofanana. Yaani Februari 1 na Machi 1 zote zimeangukia Alhamisi and so 2, 3, 4, 5, ..., 28 zitaangukia siku za juma zinazofanana.

Ban for what?!, They need to chill out.

It's a day of showing more Love to your loved ones and can be done simple. It doesn't have to be overly romantic and salacious if that's what they 're trying to avoid.

To them anything western is perceived evil although Pakistan is, arguably, one of the most perilous countries to visit esp if you're a non Muslim. What a hypocrisy.

Haha hawa jamaa...akili zao sijui waga ziko wapi tu.....Wangalikua wanajua maana ya Valentine Day wangeifanyia matangazo kabisa....ili ifanyike...Tena hizo nchi zao zenye Vita ndo wangeadhimisha kabisa

Ni kwamba tukio la Valentine's Day limepigwa marufuku huko Pakistan.

Je, sababu ni nini?
