Scientists have found that vitamin D influences more than 200 genes, including ones related to cancer, autoimmune diseases like multiple sclerosis and possibly rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes. The findings released by the Wellcome Trust in London point to the dangers of living with a vitamin D deficiency.
