Vacancy for: Loan Officer – Arusha*

Projects Abroad is the leading organisation recruiting young people from
the all over the world to do worthwhile voluntary work overseas.



Annually we send over 8,000 volunteers to over 27 developing countries to
work as volunteers or interns at various projects such as teaching, care,
business, human rights, medicine, conservation and micro finance. We put
enormous importance on the welfare of our volunteers during their time with
us overseas and employ teams in each destination to ensure that the
volunteers have the support they need and the projects and local community
benefit directly from the work they do.

The position we have available is a unique role which allows you the
opportunity to oversee and develop the micro-finance office in Arusha
working closely with the volunteers in order to ensure that the borrowers
benefit as much as possible.

*Your role as Loan Officer:*

· Arrange meetings for participants in the workshops and for
borrowers

· Marketing and promotion work with the new borrowers

· Explain what microcredit is

· Facilitate the groups of borrowers (in case of group model)

· Guide the group or individual in the selection of activities to
be supported

· Collect data that can help for the selection of best income
generating activities and best borrowers

· Visit potential borrowers

· Assist in the project proposal

· Calculation of loan amounts and repayments

· Keep records of credits and repayments

· Collect repayments

· Monitor the progress of activities

· Work with possible partners (for example, find connections with
journalism or human rights projects; identify stakeholders that can support
income generating activities)

· Supervise, train and plan volunteers activities.

*Our requirements:*

*You should be:*

· Fluent in English, both spoken and written

· Able to multitask and plan independently

· An excellent communicator with people of all ages and cultures

· A good judge of character

· Good at working in the community and build trust,

· Able to conduct training sessions and educate potential borrowers

· Can build the process and the structure of the project

· Has financial understanding and ability to perform calculation of
loan amount and repayments

· Has understanding about income generating activities


*Contract, salary and benefits*



*Contract*

Projects Abroad staff members are employed on a permanent contract, subject
to a three-month probationary period. An offer of employment is dependent
upon receipt of satisfactory references and personal interview.

You will be paid a competitive salary as well as agreed day-to-day
work-related expenses; the exact salary depends upon your experience and
will be discussed with you during the interview.
