THE TRUTH ABOUT IRAN & PAKISTAN NEWS EVENTS
There has been extensive amounts of fake news and rumors circulating surrounding Iran's military actions and Pakistan's supposed retaliation.
It is similar to the false rumors that surrounded the Iran-Taliban border accident 6 months ago, which RTSG covered on our substack. Following that incident, relations continued as normal between Iran and Afghanistan, in which the two countries even boosted trade relations signing new deals.
It is likely the same will happen with current Iran-Pakistan events, despite all the usual social media fearmongering.
Anyhow, to set the events straight, lets cover the brief timeline, using previous examples as precedent.
TIMELINE:
2017: Jaish ul-Adl (JA) kills 27 Iranians in a border attack.
2017: Iran responds with airstrikes against JA hideouts; Pakistani air defense doesnt interfere
2017: Pakistan briefly recalls ambassador, only for relations to resume as normal
------
2022-2023: Sporadic PJAK/Jaish ul-Adl attacks on Iran border coinciding with "Woman Life Freedom" riots
DEC. 14, 2023: Victoria Nuland meets Pakistan officials
DEC. 15, 2023: Jaish ul Adl kills 11 Iranian border police. Iran vows response.
DEC. 25, 2023: Israel kills IRGC Brig. Gen. Sayyed Razi. Iran vows response.
JAN. 3, 2024: ISIS-K claims responsibility for Kerman bombings, killing 103+ civilians. Iran vows response.
JAN. 15, 2024: Iran strikes targets in Syria. Targets in Syria included that of ISIS and the Uyghur Turkestan Islamic Party (TIP). The TIP collaborates with ISIS-K as members of both groups wage terror attacks in Afghanistan against the Taliban government, as the Taliban cut all support to the TIP after making a deal with China. They also own territory in Syria and are one of the several groups continuing to fight Assad. Thus the logic of Iran hitting their known Syrian positions.
JAN. 15, 2024: Iran strikes targets in Erbil, Kurdish Regional Govt of Iraq. Iran stuck a safehouse which was used as a Mossad Headquarters to organize Israeli operations in Iran & vicinity. Among those killed was Peshraw Dizayee, a powerful, well-connected oil tycoon with a net worth of over $1b USD, who helped facilitate the supply of oil to Israel, as well as helping finance several anti-Iran terror groups allied to Israel such as PJAK and KOMALA. US PATRIOT Air Defenses attempted but failed interception of missiles.
JAN. 17, 2024: Iran strikes Jaish ul-Adl targets in Pakistan. Pakistan air defense did not intercept Iranian missiles in airspace.
JAN. 18, 2024: Pakistans strikes targets in Iran. Iran did not intercept.
WHAT THE TIMELINE TELLS US IS THIS:
This is not the first time such an incident has happened, and nothing will come out of it. The fact Pakistan did not intercept either time shows that they had advanced knowledge of the attacks and agreed to let it happen. This was also implied by the statements given by Iranian FM, Amir Abdollahian, in his communique with Pakistan's FM. Pakistan's strike was possibly a show of force to appease outrage hyped up by Western-aligned social media. Given that Iran also did not intercept this strike, they likely had advanced knowledge with Pakistan. According to the BLA (Baluch Liberation Army) separatist group's official telegram, Iran and Pakistan coordinated the operations against eachothers' groups. Reports of Iran or Pakistan striking eachothers military personnel are fake and did NOT happen.
Why such events happened at all is due to the fact that several of these countries harbored groups that frequently attacked Iran, and as such Iran responded to all of them at once. As admitted by Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan in past years following the 2017 Jaish ul-Adl attack, Pakistan must up its security for both its own benefit and to the benefit of neighbors such as Iran. Jaish ul-Adl has targeted Pakistan in some of its terror attacks as well. In many cases, these groups are often trained and armed by the US's CIA without knowledge of Pakistan's civilian government. Iran and Pakistan collaborating in eliminating terror hideouts is a step forward for the relations of both countries.
