The Tanzania Media Fund (TMF, ww.tmf.or.tz) seeks to promote media independence and quality, with a particular focus on investigative journalism. TMF supports media houses, editors and journalists to deepen their work and foster innovative learning. The Fund is supported by a multi-donor group and hosted by Hivos Tanzania.
TMF seeks enthusiastic individuals for the posts of Learning/M&E Officer and Communications Officer, both of whom will play a key role in further shaping TMF. 1. Job Title: Learning/Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Programme Manager, you will be responsible for the implementation of the TMF learning component with a strong focus on TMFs mentorship programme. You will contribute to an innovative and inspirational learning environment for individual Journalists and media institutions, as well as TMF staff. Through an analytical and reflective attitude, you will work to continuously improve the learning component. You will also be responsible for collecting data and monitoring the impact of the TMF grants through a comprehensive, but innovative monitoring and evaluation (M&E) system (story telling).
Qualifications:
(a) a masters university degree (preferred) or at least a first degree in a relevant field (Journalism),
(b) at least five years experience in facilitating learning, capacity-building and M&E.
(c) strong preference will be given to candidates with working experience in the media sector,
(d) very strong communication skills, with exceptional facilitation skills,
(e) effective writing, communication and networking abilities in English and Swahili, and
(f) computer proficiency.

2. Job Title: Communications Officer with digital media experience
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Programme Manager, you will be responsible for all communication and public relations activities of the TMF, with a special emphasis on digital forms of communication. You will develop an innovative strategy and implement it with passion and dedication. You will make sure TMF is known and respected within the media sector and you will contribute to an active online presence through the innovative use of social media like Facebook and Twitter. You will maintain the TMF website, its online learning platform as well as its social media sites. A strong network and/or background in the media sector is of added value.
Qualifications:
(a) At least a first degree or advanced diploma in relevant field (e.g. communications),
(b) minimum of three years relevant communication experience,
(c) excellent written en verbal communication skills in both English as well as Swahili,
(d) experience with online (social) media (website, facebook and twitter) and
(e) good eye for graphics, design and images.
