Background

Stretching from Lake Victoria to the Indian Ocean, the Southern Kenya – Northern Tanzania (SOKNOT) transboundary area covers some 134,000 km2. The area is famous for its conservation areas, including the Serengeti, Maasai-Mara, Tsavo, Kilimanjaro and the Ngorongoro crater, important biospheres and bird habitats including Lake Natron, Loita, Amboseli and West Kilimanjaro. There are 39 communal conservancies and 3 Wildlife Management Areas(WMAs)that reflect its extraordinary biodiversity and tourism value. The landscape is home to millions of wild animals including threatened and endangered species such as elephant, black rhino, lion, cheetah, hirola and African wild dog.

The Land for Life project, is among the SOKNOT transboundary program funded by WWF-UK and the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) aiming at securing livelihood and empowering vulnerable Maasai communities whilst recovering wildlife in critical corridors, addressing the need for Human – Wildlife Conflict (HWC) mitigation and supporting sustainable rangeland management in the project areas; Tanzania’s Lake Natron and Kenya’s Loita Forest area.

WWF Tanzania for this tender, aim sat procuring sunflower seeds in order to support eco-friendly business and livelihoods through integrated farming systems of the communities in Longido District.

WWF Tanzania invites eligible Tanzanian Suppliers registered by relevant Authorities/Bodies to bid for the tender.
