In October 2022, the World Bank announced the approval of new financing worth $200 million (more than TZS 500 billion) for the Msimbazi Basin Development Project in Tanzania's commercial hub Dar es Salaam.
According to the World Bank, the loan was expected to help reduce the flood exposure of over 300,000 people, including many low-income communities, while providing access to better infrastructure and services.
The bank said the project "will also help ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ -๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ that will benefit all residents of Dar es Salaam".

It seems that little, if any, has changed to improve the infrastructure of the area, despite the government taking a loan worth more than half a trillion shillings from the World Bank to fix the problem.
What happened to the money?
