Ndugu zangu waumini wa Islam na wafuasi wa mtume Muhamed SAW, naomba mpokee salamu zangu kuwatakia kila laheri kuanza mfungo wa Mwezi Mtakatifu wa Ramadhani.

Katika Uislamu, tunaambiwa kuna nguzo kuu tano za Uislamu. Imani, Sala, Zaka,Sawm na Hijja.

Nanyi mnapoenda kwenye safari hii muhimu ya kutimiza moja ya nguzo, nawaomba mwenyezi Mungu awape heri na baraka zake, muwe wastahimilivu wa majaribu, nanyi mkishi katika toba na unyenyekevu.

Naungana nanyi katika safari yenu kwa kuwaombea muyashinde majaribu na baada ya 30 mpate malliza mfungo huu mtukufu kwa Amani, mkiwa mmejengwa na kuimarisha kiroho na kimwili kumtumikia muumba wenu Allah!

Na mwezi ukiandama, wa mfungo wa lazima,
Nawatakieni mema, mfungao bila hima,

Kumekuwa na ubishi wa kila mwaka ukiongozwa na ma-Ustaadhi juu ya muandamo wa mwezi. Waumini wengi wamekuwa wakifuata mkumbo bila kujua ukweli halisi.

Taarifa hizi hapa chini zinafafanua kwa kina mambo yanavyokua na tunatarajia waalimu watawaeleza ukweli wafuasi wao ili hata kama wanaamua wawe wanafahamu wanachofuata kuliko ushabiki na jazaba. Ramadan Karim!

The Astronomical New Moon is on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 19:58 Universal Time (i.e., 3:58 pm EDT, and 12:58 pm PDT ). This moon is impossible to be seen any where on earth on August 30. On August 31, the moon will be sightable in South America by naked eye, and possibly in South Africa and in Central America if wheather conditions are perfect. It would be very difficult to see in North America on August 31, but it will be visible on Sep 1, Insha-Allah. Therefore, first day of Ramadan (fasting) in North America according to sighting, is expected to be September 2, Insha-Allah. However, according to Saudi Ummul-Qura calendar, Fiqh Council of North America, and European Council for Fatwa and Research, the first day of Ramadan is on Monday, September 1, 2008.

In UK, the moon may still not be visible on September 1. However, according to a new Fatawa from Deoband, India, the first day of Ramadan in UK will be September 2, because the moon should be easily seen by naked eye from Australia to Morocco. In Pakistan also, sighting will be easy on September 1, and first day of Ramadan will also be September 2.

The holy fasting month of Ramadan will start Monday, September 1, in most Arab and Gulf countries as well as North America and European countries.

"There was no evidence of any person seeing the new crescent today," Saudi Arabia's Judicial Council confirmed in a statement on Saturday, August 30. Therefore, Sunday, August 31, will be the last day of the month of Sha`ban and Ramadan will fall on Monday, September 1, added the council.

Based on calculations, more than 35 countries have announced that the first day of Ramadan will be on Monday, September 1

Moon sighting has always been a controversial issue among Muslim countries, and even scholars seem at odds over the issue.

While one group of scholars sees that Muslims in other regions and countries are to follow the same moon sighting as long as these countries share one part of the night, another states that Muslims everywhere should abide by the lunar calendar of Saudi Arabia.

A third, however, disputes both views, arguing that the authority in charge of ascertaining the sighting of the moon in a given country announces the sighting of the new moon, then Muslims in the country should all abide by this.

Rasulullah’s sermon on welcoming the month of Ramadhan.




“O people! The month of Allah (Ramadhan) has approached you with His mercy and blessings. This is the month that is the best of all months in the estimation of Allah. Its days are the best among the days; its nights are the best among the nights. Its hours are the best among the hours.

This is a month in which he has invited you. You have been, in this month, selected as the recipients of the honors of Allah, the Merciful. In this holy month, when you breathe, it has the thawab (heavenly reward) of ‘Tasbeeh’ (the praise of Allah on rosary beads), and your sleep has the thawab of worship.

Your good deeds are accepted in this month. So are your invocations. Therefore, you must invoke your Lord, in right earnest, with hearts that are free from sins and evils, that Allah may bless you, observe fast, in this month, and recite the Holy Quran.

Verily! The person who may not receive the mercy and benevolence of Allah in this month must be very unfortunate having an end as bad (in the Hereafter). While fasting, remember the hunger and thirst of tomorrow in Qiyamat. Give alms to the poor and the needy. Pay respects to your elders.

Have pity on those younger than you and be kind towards your relatives and kinsmen. Guard your tongues against unworthy words, and your eyes from such scenes that are not worth seeing (forbidden) and your ears from such sounds that should not be heard by you.

Be kind to orphans so that when your children become orphans they also may be treated with kindness. Do invoke that Allah may forgive your sins. Do raise your hands at the time of Salat (Prayers), as it is the best time for asking His mercy. When we invoke at such times, we are answered by Him, when we call Him, He responds, and when we ask for anything, it is accepted by Him.

O People! You have made your conscience the slave of your desires; make it free by invoking Him for Istighfar (repentance/forgiveness). Your back is breaking under the heavy load of your sins, so prostrate before Him for long intervals and make it lighter.

Do understand fully well that Allah has promised in the name of His Majesty and Honor that He will not take to task such people who fast and offer Salat in this month and perform ’sajda’ (prostration), and will guard their bodies against the Fire of Hell on the Day of Judgment.

O People! If anybody amongst you arranges for the Iftar (food for the ending of the fast) of any believer, then Allah will give him a reward as if he has set free a slave. He will forgive his minor sins.

Then the companions of Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) said: “But everybody amongst us does not have the means to do so?”

Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) told them : - Keep yourself away from the Fire of Hell, by inviting for ‘Iftar’, though it may consist of only half a date or simply with water if you have nothing else.

O People! Anybody who may cultivate good manners in this month will walk over the ‘Siraat’ (Bridge) in ‘Qiyamat’, though his feet may be shaking.

Anybody who in this month may take light work from his servants (male or female), Allah will make easy his accounting on the Day of Judgment.

Anybody who does not tease others in this month, Allah will keep him safe from His wrath in Qiyamat. Anybody, who respects and treats an orphan with kindness in this month, Allah shall look at him with dignity in Qiyamat. Anybody who treats well his kinsmen, in this month, Allah will bestow His mercy on him in Qiyamat, while anybody who maltreats his kinsmen in this month, Allah will keep him away from His mercy, in Qiyamat.

Whoever offers ‘Sunnat’ (Recommended) prayers in this month, Allah will give him a certificate of freedom from Hell. Whosoever offers one ‘Wajib’ Salat in this month, for him the Angels will write the rewards of 70 such prayers, which were offered by him in any other months.

Whosoever recites repeatedly ‘Salat and salam (Salawat)’ on me, Allah will keep the scales of his deeds heavy, when in Qiyamat the scales of others will be tending towards lightness.

Whosoever recites in this month only one ‘Ayat’ (verse of the Holy Quran), he will be rewarded in a manner as if he had recited the full Holy Quran in the other months.

O People! The Gates of Paradise remain opened in this month. Do invoke that the gates may not be closed on you, while the Gates of Hell are closed. Do invoke that these gates may never be opened. During this month Shaytan (Saten) is imprisoned so ask your Lord not to let him have power over you.”

allahumma salli ‘ala sayyidina muhammad, wa ‘alaa aali sayyidina muhammad.

What you miss in Ramadan cannot be compensated for all year long.

This is a month in which you have been invited by Allah.

Allah is sending each of you an invitation card not like any other, since this one is from the Quran. “O you who believe, fasting is prescribed for you, as it was prescribed for those before you, so that you may guard (against evil). The month of Ramadan is that in which the Quran was revealed, a guidance to men and clear proofs of the guidance and the distinction.”

This is the invitation card but it is not inviting to food and drink, it is inviting to a banquet of mercy, blessings, and forgiveness. You have been, in this month, selected as the recipients of honors of Allah, the Merciful.

What better honor could there be. If all people honor you but Allah despises you, it will be all worthless. You are being honored in this month, by Allah’s call to come to Him and receive His blessings and forgiveness when nothing could save you, except your good deeds.

ila kuna wanavyuoni ambao wana wazo jengine.....na kusema mtu atatakiwa kufunga kwa maximum ya masaa 16. kwa hiyo kama jua linakuwa halijazama kwa zaidi ya masaa hayo, mtu atatakiwa ale licha ya kuwa jua halijazama.

Unapokaribia mwezi mtukufu wa Ramadhani, Jiji la zenj hujaa pilikapilika nyingi mno, ni rahisi sana kutofautisha jinsi watu wanavyoishi kabla ya mwezi huo kwani kila mtu huwa kwenye pilika za hali ya juu, tofauti kabisa na miezi mengine yoyote katika mwaka.

Kijana mmoja aliwahi kunilalamikia kuwa ingependeza kama kufunga mwezi Mtukufu wa Ramadhani ikawa kama fainali za kombe la dunia kutokea mara moja kwa miaka minne tena katika nchi tofauti.
