*AfDB President: Magufuli Is a Bold Reformer*

The Fifth Phase Government under the leadership of the President Dr. John Pombe Magufuli, has continued to be commended on the vast development reforms taking place in the country.
The African Development Bank (AfDB) President, Dr. Akimwumi Adesina, issued the commendations at State House in Dar es Salaam shortly after holding talks with President John Magufuli yesterday for various issues including steady economic growth of annual average 7%, describing it as one of the fastest growing economies in the world.
Dr Adesina congratulated President Magufuli during the talks relating to cooperation between his country and the AfDB on various economic issues, hailing him for exhibiting exemplary leadership, bold reforms and safeguarding the welfare and interest of his people that lead to the country's fast economic growth of 7%, which is far above worlds 3.5%.
Furthermore, AfDB President also congratulated Dr Magufuli for forging ahead mutual relationship with his neighbouring countries including Uganda, which culminated to the country reaching an agreement on multi-billion shilling crude oil pipeline from the Port of Tanga in Tanzania to Hoima, Uganda - 1443 km - in collaboration with private sectors.
"We have discussed with the Head of State on how to improve agriculture, and that; AfDB is ready to help tackle the problems of farm produce from different zones in Tanzania," said Dr Adesina.
On development projects, Dr Adesian says AfDB has so far funded various projects in the country valued at TZS 4.55 trillion.
Recently, he says, the AfDB approved the funding of construction of 110 km outer ring road in Tanzanias capital city, Dodoma, and the construction of Msalato International Airport also in Dodoma.
Dr Adesina congratulated the President for starting the construction of a 300-km railway, the Standards Gauge Railway (SGR) portion from (Dar es Salaam Port to Morogoro), currently one of the biggest projects in Africa, which was inaugurated in May 2, 2017.
The work on Dar es Salaam-Morogoro portion has already commenced, and by mid- October 2018 about 15 kms of the railway has already been laid down, this being 36 percent of the completed project, using the countrys own funds. The whole project is expected to be completed on November 2, 2019.
“I can assure you that AfDB will join hands by funding the construction of Standards Gauge Railway (SGR) project from Isaka in Tanzania to Kigali, Rwanda that will be beneficial to other neighboring countries of Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)," he said promising President Magufuli.
On his part, President Magufuli said apart from other AfDB funded projects, the Bank has agreed to fund the construction of 359 km Mpanda-Tabora Road at tarmac level, and construction of second phase of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) from Gerezani Kariakoo area to Mbagala in Dar es Salaam.
He added that the AfDB will also issue funds for the 400kV Sumbawanga-Mpanda-Kigoma-Nyakanazi power project.
