SHINYANGA FOUNDATION FUND is looking for a permanent SECRETARY GENERAL

Shinyanga Foundation Fund (SFF) is a Tanzanian NGO which is based in Shinyanga. Being located in one of the richest regions in Tanzania with regards to the availability of minerals and still exhibiting high poverty rates, the main objectives of SFF are: To contribute to holding the government accountable, to improve social and economic conditions and to empower citizens to effectively engage in business, policy processes, monitoring, accountability and poverty alleviation. Therefore, SFF has been successfully implementing capacity building and awareness projects in the areas of good governance, health and citizen participation. Since 1999, SFF has been working with and funded by major national and international donors and municipal offices like the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Care International, Forum SYD (Swedish democracy and rights network) and the Shinyanga District Council.

In 2009, SFF experienced a shortage of funds. Planned projects had to be cancelled since donors could not keep their funding promises in the context of the international financial and economic crisis. Therefore, one of the focuses in 2010 is to relift the organization to its former strength for the purpose of service to the community.

The new Secretary General will be the head of a dedicated team to achieve the objectives of SFF. Among his/ her responsibilities will be:

· To be the head and the speaker of the organisation,
· To assure the financial and organisational sustainability of the organisation
· To assure the development of project plans and designs,
· To monitor and supervise all activities of the organisation,
· To manage and guide the staff and volunteers of SFF,
· To provide reports to the community, government, stakeholders, donors, the board and the Annual General member’s meeting (AGM),
· To manage assets, funds and liabilities of the organization,
· To build and maintain good relations with the government, donors, the community and other stakeholders.

For this end, we are looking for a competent individual with the following qualities:

· Highest commitment to the community and the improvement of its welfare
· Integrity, trustworthiness, accountability
· Experience in project planning, acquisition, implementation, as well as monitoring and evaluation
· An open and creative mind
· Competent in communication and networking
· A profound understanding of important issues in governance and other development related areas
