Honorable Mnyika,
I applaud your courage. However, I feel that you engage yourself in activism politics as if you aren't an elected official. I don't understand why you called a press conference in order to beg the government to improve the well being of its people. Leave this to politicians who have no mandates or leave to activists who don't desire higher offices.
As a member of parliament, I expect you to call a press conference and spell out your policies. Tell them in details so we can differenciate your policies from those of the ruling party, and you don't need to wait until the next election. Basically, we want to hear the actions you would have taken if you were a president, prime minister, or member of the cabinet.
To ask the president to formulate new economic policies with the help of his cabinet and economic council indicates that you know the problem, but You lack solutions or you don't want to take political risks.
Anyway, you are a party of the current government albeit in opposition. The Tanzanian government has three branches of government: Executive, Judicial, and legislative. As a member of parliament you are in the legislative branch, and I expect you to use your legislative power. Why don't you ask the government to cut it expenses?
