Following untimely statement by JWTZ that left most of the electorate wondering what are JK’s true intents in case his administration is dumped by voters come October 31st, that tempest has left little room for JK to manoeuvre but to come forward and reassure voters he will accept voters’ will come what may!

Kikwete himself had made matters worse for himself when he upended the opposition’s statement calling for a free and fair election where he said “the opposition was inciting voters” something which was misleading.

Now, with the military sending intimidation messages, Kikwete is now coming under intense pressures from development partners to cool the tempers by reassuring the electorate he will accept the will of voters, notwithstanding of the election outcome.

This scenario is manifesting at a time government propaganda machine from the Daily News to Habari Leo not excluding TBC1 have broken all “the rules of engagement” in order to salvage remnants of whatever is left of Kikwete legitimacy to rule this nation.

Kikwete has not rebuked these government apparatchiks who are, however, at his “beck and call” portending that those machinations could be instigated by himself. Unless he fires the Daily News chief and vehemently castigate the military top bosses in public for disquieting the nation unnecessarily, Dr. Kikwete may also be apportioned the blame in case things got out of hand comes on D-Day. He ought to be seen he is above the partisan fray and also he is positioning himself to abide to the constitution he had sworn to or perceptions of mischief may continue to swell around his persona. So far, his demeanour suggests so!!!!!

NEC has made matters worse when it declared to reverse a well established principle of voters to be the ultimate vanguards of the election’s legitimacy when the NEC knocked off this pillar of accountability! Voters are entitled to be within 200 metres precinct of voting booths but now this “check and balance” parameter is all thrown to the dogs suggesting that if the electorate feel cheated by the results then not only NEC will be on the fireline but Kikwete may also turn out to be the latest ICC suspect of polling heinous misconduct.

For Kikwete who on campaign trail has inexorably offered “lip service” of a man keen on bequeathing the nation an enduring legacy of himself I have to wonder why that ennobling quest must not be invoked now rather than when it is too late to catch a departed bandwagon……….

We need him to show his mettle and fortitude if he really had any, at all……………………….to begin with…………………..
