hello, guys.
i have a friend, who has a son. the son did his 'a' levels this year, and could'nt qualify for university, which is what his dad desired, for obvious reasons. so the dad told the boy to re-sit the exam. he did, but on observation, he was only half-hearted about it. now the boy has come up with a project on 'Youth Conference on HIV/AIDS Prevention & the Elimination of Child Labour' to be held...you guessed it, the USA! His paper has been accepted by the organisers there. presentation is december, 2008. the only nub is: the organisers will foot the bill for visa fees, plane ticket, etc, except upkeep-food, accomodation, etc and passport application charges, in his native country - somewhere in africa. dad does not want him to go untill his results come out, and for fear he might 'zamia' over there. i agree with dad, 'cause in effect the boy is still 'o' level; at the moment we have forbidden the boy to go anywhere mpaka kieleweke kuhusu status yake ya 'a' level na kuingia university. my issue is: are we being unfair to the boy?? sh'd we let him go?? what are the risks?? JF Members, please advise.
