Kikwete picks envoys to Japan, Saudi Arabia and Burundi
PRESIDENT Jakaya Kikwete has appointed new ambassadors to Japan, Saudi Arabia and Burundi to fill vacant posts. The appointments take immediate effect.
A statement issued today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation said that Ms Salome Sijaona (pictured above) has been appointed Ambassador to Japan to replace Ambassador Elly Mtango who has retired.
Ms Sijaona formerly served as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development.
The statement said that the president has appointed Prof Abdillah Omari as Tanzania ambassador to Saudi Arabia, to replace retired Judge Khamis Msumi who has retired. Before the appointment, Prof Omari served as the Director of Centre of International Relations in Dar es Salaam.
President Kikwete has also appointed Dr James Nzagi to be Tanzanias Ambassador to Burundi, replacing retired Brigadier General Francis Mndolwa who has retired. Before his appointment, Dr Nzagi served as a director in the Presidents Office.
