The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director-General Mohamed ElBaradei is paying a three-day official visit to Tanzania, local daily the Guardian reported on Wednesday.

During his visit which started on Tuesday, the IAEA chief was expected to meet Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete, according to a statement released here on Tuesday.

ElBaradei would also exchange views with Tanzanian Communication, Science and Technology Minister Peter Msolla among others. He is also scheduled to visit the Ocean Road Cancer Institute, which is implementing an IAEA-funded project.

Having been appointed to IAEA's top post in 1997, ElBaradei is expected to be succeeded by Yukiya Amano of Japan later this year.
