During the National Solemn Assembly prayers held at Nyayo Stadium on February 14, 2023, Mama Rachel said God would answer Kenyan prayers for rain.
"We know counties have been affected so much due to the ongoing drought, especially the ASAL counties. But today, we have prayed and we can see the clouds have formed and the rains are coming. The clergy have told us to go and prepare the farms," Mama Rachel said.
During the preaching, one of the clergy had asked Kenyans to go and prepare their farms, saying rains would soon fall.

Commenting on the prayers, a section of Kenyans said the government should channel resources towards drilling boreholes rather than just holding prayers.

"President William Ruto spends millions of taxpayers money weekly to plan for prayers. If President Ruto could commit that money to drill boreholes in drought-affected areas could be service to humanity. I am not against it but people are suffering."

"Israel, a country that's 60% a desert is a major exporter of fresh produce and a world leader in agricultural technologies. In Kenya however,we've decided to cover up incompetence with "prayers". We have to end this charade!!"

The prayers, intended to address the country's drought and food crises, are also expected to be attended by President William Ruto and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua.

Among other notables present are Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and Attorney General Justin Muturi.
Ruto had previously implored netizens to join the prayer session from wherever they were.
"...tunataka tuombe ndio mungu atupatie mvua ndio wakenya wasiangamie kwasababu ya drought (We will pray for God to bless us with rain so that Kenyans do not die due to drought)," said Ruto.

Itanyesha, mambo ya Mungu huwa yanapingana kabisa na utaratibu wa dunia, kwa kuwa ametoka nje kwa hatua mathubuti ya Imani, atafanikiwa.
