Well said Mr ambassador Mwapachu.

If one of prominent person like you come out with this piece of advice, there will be no eyebrows but only notes taken and digested as soon as possible.

Voting is the privilege and as electorate we should think carefully on how we choose our next leader.

Its a story of six blind men and one large elephant in a village.

Its the battle between the one with emotional intelligence and the one with high intelligent quotient.

The former has all attributes while the latter still seek advice and guidance but come up with an ideas such as laptops for each teacher in the whole country.

The race gathers momentum.

Not elite. Not influential. Yes we need change, as always, in every election people need changes that move the nation forward.

If it's between Leadership and Management, and if John P. Magufuli is good in Management then this is the right choice. Our natural resources which are all enough to make us move to a better economy need nothing other than GOOD MANAGEMENT.

All these scandals RICHMOND, EPA, ESCROW you name them are resulting from a weakness in Good Management of Resources.

Having a leader without good management is nothing on its own.

Having a leader without good management is nothing on its own.

You have to have a leader and the manager.

Leader's job is to inspire and motivate and the manager is to plan, organise and follow up.

Leader provide vision and innovate his vision while the manager has to administer those vision and innovations.

So there is the choice between the two especially when you have one already who fits both qualities.

With the new leader from the different side with alterative ideas, it can take few years not more than 53 years of independence to transform our nation but not through CCM.

hayoo ni maelezo yangu kama kuchangia kwamba kiongozi mzuri ni yule atakae kubali kujiuzulu kwa dhana na kama yuko safi akagombea tena na kuzihirishia kama sio kosa lake
lakini kuna mambo ya ndani ya siri huwezi kuyaweka hadharani labda inapobidi kujitetea (it means court the only place to comforce your inocent)

Not long time ago after his excellency Juma mwapachu joined UKAWA, he made an amazing remarks about the then two candidates for presidency. I am in awe if his remarks still counts. This is part of his remarks:
''They desperately await a more enriching and rewarding life, now and not in any future. They are thus anxiously looking for a 'second coming' of a leader who can lead them to the land of 'milk and honey'. They are looking for a leader, not a good manager; somebody who does the right thing and not one who merely does things right. A leader is a person who gets elected. A manager, in contrast, is always appointed to perform tasks and responsibilities. Many of us are managers and can acquit ourselves very well in such responsibility. But we are not leaders. The forthcoming Presidential election crucially revolves around our making a critical choice for the this new epoch in our country; a choice between electing a 'manager' and a good one at that and a 'leader'. What is most interesting about this particular election is that, in as much as we would popularly wish to think that the contest is between the CCM and UKAWA candidates, the reality is different. The contest is between 'leadership' and 'management'. In my view and a well considered one, Edward Ngoyai Lowassa will provide the much needed leadership that our country desperately requires. John Pombe Magufuli will only, in contrast, give us what he is best at, mere good management. If we are seriously thinking about 'change' and real change at that for our country, then we have to decide what we want; business as usual but better delivered or a transformative leadership that best understands the challenges of a brave new world with all its unpredictabilities and fast changing social, economic, political and technology changes''

I am not so convinced about the merits attributed to Mr. Lowassa; 'cause he ai'nt President anyway! But for JPM? Well, Mwapachu was right about him being a "mere good manager". JPM so far, has not lived up to the expectations of many in terms of fundamental principles, namely: Constitutional Reforms, Good Governance, Democracy and the sanctity of the balot box, and above all, political tolerance.

Thinking+Differently+-+Juma+Mwapachu.jpg

Juma Mwapachu

I believe earnestly that Tanzania is on a certain and definitive pathway towards a turning and tipping point in its history. It is a momentous stage where a new visionary leadership steps in and a fundamental re-definition of our country's goals and values is undertaken and executed.

For all that can be said and even celebrated by global peer institutions such as the IMF and the World Bank about our country's ostensibly significant GDP economic performances in these past few years, there can be no hiding from or denying the harsh realities of rural society frustration and agony; of urban social anger; a youth in a state of hopelessness and generally of a broad state of apathy and uncertainty in the Tanzanian populace. In this environment the desire for change emboldens many and has become a common refrain.

Yet, ' turning and turning in the widening gyre the falcon cannot hear the falconer' as so well conjectured in WB Yeats's epic poem, 'The Second Coming'. Tanzanians are in a desperate search for a hearing 'falconer' who can once again rekindle and awaken their aspirations and hopes which Mwalimu Nyerere so powerfully promised to deliver.

They desperately await a more enriching and rewarding life, now and not in any future.

It is a moment for serious choice. Choose wisely.

JV anapenda ku-jipresent kwa lugha ngumu na ambayo itamfanya aonekane is different. Lakini huyu jamaa ni mwanazuoni ambaye hajaweza kukita miguu yake kwenye "one area of competence"- Kitu ambacho kinamfanya watu wengi wasimwelewe. Simply who is JV- a politician,an academician, a businessman or a researcher?
