1. A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don't necessarily want to go, but ought to be.
2. If you do not take an interest in the affairs of your government, then you are doomed to live under the rule of fools.
3. Politics determines who has the power, not who has the truth.
4. Governments never learn. Only people learn.
5. A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves.
6. Any politician who can be elected only by turning Tanzanians against other Tanzanians is too dangerous to be elected.
7. Political language... is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.
8. Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies.
9. Politics is show business for ugly people.
10. Mankind will never see an end of trouble until lovers of wisdom come to hold political power, or the holders of power become lovers of wisdom
11. When we blindly adopt a religion, a political system, a literary dogma, we become automatons. We cease to grow.
12. An honest public servant can't become rich in politics. He can only attain greatness and satisfaction by service.
