I disagree with what you have written here.
For starters, I would like to know, what's the image of Africa in your vision? How many successful stories are there to tell? Mind you, I am not saying there aren't any.
Secondly, donations can be used to benefit Africans but that's not happening because of corruption and such ills. Surprisingly, it's mostly Africans who are misusing the funds. Here, who is to blame?
It is an insult to say, i quote, "..like UNICEF, Doctors without Borders, and alike have done more damage to Africa than the marginal positive impact they supposedly have had." Lives have been saved by these institutions. Are you to deny that?
Visit any refugee camp near you. You would be surprised it is these institutions helping Africans. Where is the love among Africans? Where are our governments?
Visit hospitals where most of the donors' funds are being used in providing medicine at affordable prices. Even though one could argue that it is the pharmaceutical companies making profits in return. But overall, lives are being saved.
I am not saying Africans cannot run hospitals, schools etc. I am saying we have our priorities "elsewhere".
And why do we look at things in black and white? Aren't we all human? There could be a problem with our thinking, that everything must be black and white. If a white person helps, then there is something fishy or a trap behind.. But if it's a fellow African then it's all good. This kind of thinking is wrong.
Africa is not poor. Africa is a rich continent inhabited by poor people.
This makes Africa a continent of poor people. Why is Africa rich and her people poor? Either Africa is cursed or her people are highly uneducated. I go with the later.
Western medias is the problem number one because it sabotages Africans self-image, weakens their sell-confidence and resolve, and contributed hugely to the hate and racism Africans face all over the world.
Africans need to look into the mirror first, problem number one is the image they see in the mirror.
We should invest in our brains. Education. That is the only resource we should ask for.
We should read, study and learn as much as we can. This is not happening, our learning institutions are collapsing. We know so and we are doing nothing about it.
Education is not our priority.
