17 Tanzanian opposition legislators ( 23% of all opposition bench in parliament) face various politically motivated offenses in courts. 2 were convicted with prison terms and 4 are in remand prisons including the leader of the opposition in parliament and 2 women popularly elected from constituencies. 2 escaped an assassination attempt with more than dozen bullets in his body.
