Recently there has been a xenophobic violence against Africans in South Africa. Now the violence is spreading and becoming more powerful. The truth is that, South African-owned chain stores and trucks have been targeted in other African countries, including Nigeria, Zambia and Mozambique.
Tanzania experience related violence from politician and extreme groups some years back, where politicians and some extreme groups used hate speech against other Tanzanian.
Recently, very few people under the political, freedom of speech and religion protection are using cyber space to instill such violence behavior, but the current Government under President Magufuli and the people of Tanzania stick up together and said no to this kind of violence.
These are few points that President Cyril Ramaphosa can work on to shun out xenophobic violence in South Africa
First, among many things that President Magufuli has done to shun the extreme groups propagating violence in Tanzania is to tackle corruption, provide quality social services, and provide free primary and secondary education for all, as well as giving opportunity to marginalized communities to participate in economic activities, nationalize the land and reviewing the mining and other economic sectors and so on.
Moreover President Magufuli has been showing support for diverse groups in every Tanzanian community. President has been attending the events in houses of worship for Muslim, Christian, Hindus and other religious groups. The impact of this in Tanzanian community has been very positive and the love among Tanzanian and foreigners living in Tanzania regardless of their political, religion, affiliation is strong.
Third point is that, currently in Tanzania it is rarely to see someone using hate speech except few who are doing it on a cyber space; immigrants are welcomed and are treated very well. There were few opposition politicians who lost their batter by just dividing people. President has been saying that, he was elected by all Tanzanian regardless of their ethnic group, education level, economic situation etc.
President has shown solidarity with immigrants and marginalized groups. He has put it clear that, verbal and physical abuse has no place in Tanzania and should not be tolerated. All people should be treated with dignity and humanity.
LORD BLESS AFRICA
