Human immunodeficiency viruses (HIV) are two species of Lentivirus (a retrovirus subtype) that infect humans. They cause acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), a condition in which the immune system steadily deteriorates, allowing life-threatening opportunistic infections and cancers to thrive. Without treatment, the average survival time after HIV infection is estimated to be 9 to 11 years, depending on the HIV subtype. HIV is a sexually transmitted infection carried by contact or transmission of blood, pre-ejaculate, sperm, and vaginal secretions.

According to research, HIV cannot be transmitted through condomless sexual contact if the HIV-positive partner has a permanently undetectable viral load (for both same-sex and opposite-sex couples). Due to exposure to her blood or vaginal fluid, non-sexual transmission from an infected mother to her newborn can occur during pregnancy, childbirth, or through breast milk. Free viral particles as well as virus within infected immune cells can be found in these bodily fluids.

Many HIV-negative persons are in romantic, intimate relationships with HIV-positive partners. This form of connection is referred to as a'serodiscordant' relationship.
Modern HIV medicine and care can significantly enhance your partner's health and life expectancy. Many HIV patients have a good chance of living a long and healthy life.

People living with illnesses like HIV face a lot of stigma and prejudice in society. Particularly since people have little knowledge or are misinformed.
They also have a hard time finding someone who will love and accept them for who they are. For someone living with HIV, falling in love can be tough, and it should be a privilege that everyone enjoys.

So, if you meet someone and like them, but later learn out they are HIV +, would you date them?
Thanks for reading.
