Wangwe Wangwe (22) of Kimusi sits on his bed at the Tarime District Hospital yesterday. Suspected bandits descended on him and several other residents of the village at a wedding party at Mwita Burugus residence, leaving five villagers dead and several others wounded.



Armed gangsters stormed into a wedding ceremony at a village in Tarime District on Thursday night, killing five members of the same clan and injuring several other people – seven seriously.
All victims of the grisly 11pm incident belong to the Iregi clan which hail from Nyamwaga ward.
The names of the deceased have been given as Mwita Mathias, Matoka Sokoni, Chacha Marwa Munyoro, Wangwe Wambura and Magaiwa Makene, all residents of Genkuru village. They are said to have been shot or hacked with machete by members of the Nyabasi clan.
It has been established that those injured are admitted to the district hospital, but there are few details on the whereabouts of the bodies of the deceased.
The killer gang is understood to have struck suddenly and with precision as a wedding celebration went on at the family residence of Mwita Burugu, a Kimusi village elder.
The massacre over, it vanished with five head of cattle and some donkeys.
Tarime/Rorya Special Zone Police Commander Constantine Massawe addressed reporters at Ganyange and Kimusi villages yesterday on the intermittent conflicts between Iregi and Nyabasi clanspeople.
He identified the victims admitted to hospital as including Robhi Mwita, Maria Wangwe, Wambura Mwita, Nsongo Kihura, Murumbwa Wangwe, Chacha Makene and Chacha Magagwa.
Massawe, who was accompanied by Tarime District Commissioner Frank Uhahula and members of the district defence and security committee, further explained that the most recent incidents began when suspected bandits from the Iregi clan invaded Ganyange village on Wednesday night and killed one person.
“We had this incident only the other day, on Wednesday night, when people from the Iregi clan killed a person at Ganyange, and now we have this other tragic incident. There must be a link between the two,” he elaborated.
He said the villager killed in the earlier (Wednesday) raid was identified as Samson Sasi, adding that the killer invaders stole 30 head of cattle “before crossing the border to Kegonga village in Kenya”.
More than 100 police officers have been dispatched to the scenes of the recent conflicts, which have made transporters stop operating in the area.
Reports say DC Uhahula and the defence and security committee chairperson are working around the clock to put the situation under control.

Mbunge si dola,hawezi kufanya lolote zaidi ya kulalamika bungeni ili serikali ichukue hatua,nakumbuka vizuri Mbunge wa Tarime alivyolisemea swala la maji yenye kemikali za sumu,bunge lilipeleka kamati yake kuchunguza lakini pia Waziri kagasheki alikwenda pia.

Kwa ujumla hatuwezi kumlaumu mbunge kwa ajili ya usalama wa Wanatarime,isipokuwa serikali kwa maana ya dola kupitia wizara ya mambo ya ndani,.ni vizuri tukumbuke kila raia ana haki ya kulindwa na dola.
