*Why Tanzanian NGOs Adopt Bribe Strategy to Stop NGO Law Review? Inside the World of the Most Dubious Social Advocates*

A dozen local Non- Governmental Organisations (NGO’s) in Tanzania are locked up in arms with the National Assembly for the proposed miscelaneous ammends to a number of laws including the NGO Act.

Last week, the government of Tanzania presented the bill to the parliament for review in order to scrutinise the operations of NGOs in the country in what authorities argue as steps to promote more accountability and transparency in the sector.

In tandem with many other world jurisdictions, the proposed ammendments bring in tighter measures to curb terrorism, dishonesty in running the world of NGOs which is otherwise branded as the fifth arm of state.

However, in a surprise move, Tanzanian NGOs are up in arms opposing the accountability measures.

"We urge all NGOs in the country to come together to persuade lawmakers and government officials in whatever means to stop the review of the law,” states the statement released by a congregation of NGOs held in Dar es Salaam.

Surprisingly, the NGOs in their statement alleges that the law will give room to Tanzanian authorities to deregister NGOs which will be linked to terrorism, homosexuals as well as breach of their own mandates.

It is more surprising than not to witness such a global and important arm of the state according to the fifth estate theory, defying accountability on such social misdemeneaurs like terrorism and homosexualism.

“NGOs are part of civil societies and they are supposed to obey and implement the laws. No country will allow NGOs that have links to terrorism or other social evils. I find Tanzania to have an acceptable reason on its move,” said Johansen Clitcher, a human rights activist.

Our analysis of the inside world of NGOs unveils reasons for such a hesistance and ultimate rush to bribe everyone across the line.

In Dodoma they were netted bribing some oposition MPs in Tsnzsni. In Dar the NGOs could not stop to share some "thanks" their fellows the fourth estate, i. e, the media. Why all these efforts? Multifold analysis:

First, Most NGOs are private and at times family cash cows for family members to accrue money in the pretext of societal problems;

Second, our analysis leads into gross and grave accountability issues on the part of some NGOs; misuse of funds, nepotism, favouritism etc. MCT and LHRC in Tanzania were among those cited on this chain and are both struggling internally to come out clean.

Third, Yes some NGOs are used either on their knowledge or otherwise to facilitate terrorism and money laundering, this is the bighest issue.

"During the bombing of the US Embassy in Day, one security lead cautioned on the facts that funds to facilitate the assembling of the bomb were transacted through a certain religious institution," says Zacharia an expert in peace studies.

This is not in Tanzania alone, the US froze several NGOs and financial institutions on such linkages.

In Kenya other NGOs linked to the 1998 Bombing of US Embassies were also deregistered.

See what India and other nations have done to promote national ethos against errand NGOs:

The US also emphasizes states to have more actions on terror based organizations See:

What a stupid article from a stupid and an Idiot writer. Your accusations are baseless and intend to taint the images of all NGOs and Companies. If the amendments have good intentions then why under certificate of Urgency? Why all this rush? Don't we have the Counterterrorists Act and International Agreement on the same issue? Is the Penal Code (cap 16) silent on issues pertaining to Homosexuality? According to your stupid proposed amendments, you give the registrar absolute Powers and Discretion, he is actually Alpha and Omega, oooh God, are you guys consider yourself sane? I propose you go and admit yourself at Mirembe Hospital!
