Vladimir Putin's nuclear threat to the West

Vladimir Putin used the language of the Russian street in his tirade

Vladimir Putin has delivered perhaps his most menacing tirade against the West yet, repeating threats to train nuclear missiles on Europe and warning of unspecified retaliation if Kosovo declared independence.
Addressing his last press conference as Russian president, Mr Putin mounted a defiant display that demonstrated more emphatically than ever the widening gulf between Moscow and its former Cold War rivals.

In a vintage performance, the former KGB spy laced almost five hours of invective with crude insults, threats and admonitions often expressed in the argot of the Russian street.

Reserving his greatest ire for the United States, which he accused of harbouring a colonial mentality towards Russia, Mr Putin again said that Europe would pay the consequences for a Washington-backed plan to erect a missile shield in Poland and the Czech Republic.

"Our generals, our security council, consider these moves a threat to our national security," he said. "We asked our partners to stop but no one listened to us. So if they continue we will have to react appropriately by retargeting our missiles." Mr Putin also made similar threats against Ukraine if it joined Nato.
The Russian leader - often accused of returning his country to a state of autocracy - portrayed his nuclear threat as an act of democratic generosity, saying he was acting in the interests of Europeans who opposed American military expansionism.
Few western countries escaped the vitriol. Europe was scolded for its "silly", "immoral" and "illegal" backing of Kosovo's imminent unilateral declaration of independence from Serbia.
Although he did not elaborate, Mr Putin gave warning of retaliation once Kosovo broke away - a threat likely to chill Western leaders. "We have a ready-made plan and we know what we are going to do," he said.
Although Mr Putin is expected to hand over power to Dmitry Medvedev, his handpicked and pliant protégé, after elections next month, there was little sign of a swansong in his final press conference as president.
Indeed, this was Mr Putin at his most combative. To the delight of fawning Russian journalists, he confirmed his intention to re-emerge as a powerful prime minister in a Medvedev administration - and pointedly told reporters that he had no intention of hanging his successor's portrait on his office wall.
Encouraged by enthusiastic applause from his audience, Mr Putin often resorted to crude rhetoric to condemn his critics.
He told western observers who refused to monitor the forthcoming election, widely seen as a sham, that they should "rather teach their own wives how to cook cabbage soup.".
He later compared British newspaper stories that carried allegations of his alleged multi-billion- pound fortune to "detritus excavated from someone's nostril and smeared across bits of paper.".
Critics have accused Mr Putin of creating a personality cult during his years in power - an allegation that may have been borne out by the sycophantic and even simpering questions put to him by local reporters.
A Chechen journalist asked the president when he would grace the ravaged province with another visit, while a female reporter presented the president with a golden heart as a gift for Valentine's Day.
Asked what had made him such a great leader, Mr Putin suggested that he had been anointed by God to make Russia a great state and boasted that he had made no mistakes during his eight years in power.
Giving a brief insight into how his mind works, Mr Putin attributed his success to the fact that he approached politics with a tough-man attitude.
"Heads of state have no right to whinge or drool for any reason," he said. "If they are going to slobber and blow snot and say things are bad, bad, then that's how it will be."

Moderators.. Mnaweza nisaidia kwenye hili?

White House wame call for IMMEDIATE CEASE FIRE...Sasa sijui kama watasikilizwa maana jeshi likishaanza kazi kulisimamisha si kwa masaa mawili kama Bush anavyoongea.

Georgia Accuses Russia of Bombing Civilians

Posted 6 hours, 7 minutes ago in World
(Newser) – Russian troops are targeting civilians in their assault on Georgia, President Mikhail Saakashvili told CNN today. “This is the worst nightmare one can encounter,” he said. “They've been bombing Georgia from numerous warplanes and specifically targeting (the) civilian population, and we have scores of wounded and dead.” Asked if his country was at war with Russia he replied, “My country is in self-defense against Russian aggression.”
Georgia says that it declared a unilateral ceasefire to allow civilians to escape the conflict zone but that Moscow did not honor it. Russia entered the fray today in the escalating battle between the US-backed Georgian republic and rebels in the breakaway region of South Ossetia. Moscow says it has not invaded, but merely sent “reinforcements” to its peacekeeping forces in the region. Georgia has shot down two Russian aircraft.

Georgia - Oil Politics

Development of Caspian oil and gas resources and export routes has been slowed by regional conflict, political instability, and lack of regional cooperation. Many of the proposed export routes pass through areas where conflicts remain unresolved. Most of these are in the Transcaucasus part of the Caspian region, where conflicts in Georgia, the Chechnya portion of Russia, and between Armenia and Azerbaijan, hinder the development of export routes westward from the Caspian.

The future of the Caucasus region could be determined by the pipelines running through it. Each country in the region and several outside it have their own views on how oil and gas should reach the rest of the world.

The western route for early oil from Azerbaijan goes from Baku to the Georgian port of Supsa on the Black Sea, and several other proposed pipeline routes also pass through Georgia. Pipeline construction on the western route was suspended briefly in October 1998 because of the fighting between government forces and those led by Akaki Eliava.

The proposed pipeline routes pass near several regions of Georgia that have been the site of separatist struggles, such as Abkhazia and Ossetia.

Georgia has expressed a willingness to grant Abkhazia some autonomy, and talks to resolve the standoff have included proposals to route future oil pipelines across the rebel region, on the premise that economic cooperation could help bring peace to the region.

The port of Supsa, the terminus of the western route for "early oil" from the AIOC, is 12 miles from a buffer zone between Abkhazia and Georgia.

The long controversial Baku-Ceyhan ("Main Export Pipeline") from the Caspian through Turkey to the Mediterranean should be completed by 2004, along with a parallel gas pipeline from Turkmenistan.

Where these pipelines are built will create winners and losers in this multinational competition. The success of these projects would end an almost century-old Russian stranglehold on the oil and gas resources of the Caspian.

The new pipelines are clearly is meant to weaken the influence of Russia in the region and therefore are regarded as hostile by the Russian Government.

Moscow might choose to cause more trouble in the Caucasus. It has fomented rebellions in the past and can do so again.

Georgia, through which the new pipeline would pass, is particularly vulnerable. It blamed Moscow for backing the secession of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

Warusi inaonekana wanataka kuirudisha USSR...Kwani toka waliponyang'anywa Iraki na Bush...Pamoja na ukweli wa kuangushwa na Mmarekani kwa kupitia kina Bin Laden...Sijui ni kipi kitawazuia kuichukuwa Georgia...Naona sasa wa Georgia wameomba wanajeshi wake walioko Iraki warudishwe mara moja...Sasa mjadala mkali na simu zinapigwa kila mahali kuona kama nini kifanyike...Lakini Warusi wako ndani deep in Georgia tunapozungumza hapa.
Rice anachimba biti eti wa IMMEDIATELY WITHDRAW...Sasa Bush si yuko huko CHINA kwenye OLIMPIKS NA HUYO Putin wanayeangaliana machoni kila siku?

NB:Georgia in ROUTE YA MAFUTA ambayo ina BYPASS RUSSIA NA IRAN...Na ninavyoelewa...Iran na Russia ni kitu moja...Sasa Mmarekani atakohoa ama ataufyata?
Ni heri wasubiri Obama tu...Maana Bush kweli maji shingoni.

Mkuu Jmush1,

The Russian leadership is not blind or stupid. This is clearly an act of war that has been ordered from America and Israel. Also China which i must say has done a fantastic job with the opening ceremony of the Olympics is having their limelight taking from them with this act of war against Russia.
We are i believe witnessing the open salvoes of a much wider war. I hope Russia put their foot down and does not hold back. It is about time the imerialsitic/murdering/thieving/child killing/lying/war mongering America/Israel/UK is slapped so hard that their dreams of world conquest are kicked right out of them.

Russia should never allow the pro western Georgia led by the fool and puppert Saakashvili who is playing his part in the grand chessboard of imperial global ambitious wars to steal and control the vast resources of the world.

I am sure Hu Jintao and Putin will be having a very long chat today in private on their future moves now that the western fools have made yet another war move on their borders.
Will this be the begging of a wider brutal war?

Mkuu,maneno mazito hayo

Bush ametoka kuongea LIVE hapa...Akidai kuwa mipaka ya Georgia MUST be respected.
Sasa haya mambo yanaelekea kubaya.

Huko CHINA NI BREAKING NEWS WAMAREKANI WAMESHAMBULIWA MMOJA AMEUWAWA NA MMOJA KUJERUHIWA VIBAYA!

Mkuu mmeku,

Sasa ukimsikia huyo kilaza anasema hivyo ujue anataka kujiingiza waziwazi,Huu uroho wa mafuta utaipeleka Dunia pabaya.naona Russia wako ktk hatua za kujaribu silaha zao nzito.Putin ni mbishi sana maanke hata dogo Medvedev ana uzalendo mwingi kwa nchi yake kitu ambacho kitatufanya sisi waafrika tuteseke na hali ngumu ya maisha kwani trust me buddy, the oil prices will hike to the maximum limit

Sasa hapo mid-east America hana rafiki wa kweli.this can be the terrible war of the century
