Sekta zitakazonufaika ni pamoja na miundombinu, elimu, biashara, kilimo, mazingira, utalii na afya ambapo watumishi wapya 5,000 wataajiriwa, pia Ksh. Bilioni 1.7 imetengwa kwa ajili ya kuongeza vitanda katika hospitali za umma

Amesema Serikali imetenga Ksh. 6.5 Bilioni kwa Wizara ya Elimu kuajiri walimu 10,000 na wakufunzi 1,000 wa teknolojia ya habari na mawasiliano (ICT) ili kusaidia programu ya kujifunza kidijitali

Akuhutubia Taifa leo, Rais Kenyatta amesema Serikali imekuwa ikitoa jumla ya Ksh. 250 Milioni kwa wiki kwa familia zilizokumbwa na hali ngumu ya maisha kutokana na mlipuko wa Corona

Aidha, amesema visa vipya 31 vimeongezeka na jumla ya maambukizi imefikia 1,192. Kenya imepima sampuli 57,650 tangu kuanza kwa mlipuko wa Corona

President Uhuru Kenyatta has announced that Kenya has recorded 31 new cases raising the total to 1192.

We have so far tested 57,640 samples of which 1192 persons have tested positive and lost 50 Kenyans to this disease.

Uhuru announced this on Saturday in State House.

"Coronavirus will undermine our efforts to revitalize the economy," He said.

He further said that a time will come when we shall open Kenya, when that time comes, responsibility will be yours.

"I have told my Cabinet Secretaries that we cannot stay in lockdown forever. But if we open up the country by lifting the restrictions and the virus continues to spread, it will be our fault for not taking the precautions outlined," he said.

"If we follow the government measures, we shall rise.. we shall overcome... ."

Uhuru said that if Kenyans stay the course, we shall overcome the challenges.

"Let us remain true to our countries.We know that many Kenyans are hurting but we do not have a choice but ensure that we deal with this disease," he said.

On Friday, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said seven health workers have been trained in the counties.

"This will now cascade downwards. Over 11,000 have gone through training," Kagwe said.

Kagwe said the ministry will provide PPEs for use by workers, adding that Kenya will no longer import the equipment.

He said to keep the numbers low, Kenyans must adhere to measures as directed by the government.

The ministry also projected that the peak of infections in the country is expected to be around August and September, when Kenyans are expected to see at least 200 cases recorded in a day.

Inside state's Sh53.7 billion economic stimulus package

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday outlined an eight-point economic stimulus programme to help keep the country afloat even as the coronavirus pandemic ravages lives globally.

Uhuru said the first element of the Sh53.7 billion package will focus on infrastructure.

A total of Sh5 billion has been set aside to hire local labour in this undertaking

The second element is on education.

Soon we will come out with plans to ensure children can carry on with their education, the President said.

"The government has set aside Sh6.5 billion to hire 10,000 teachers and 1,000 ICT interns to support digital learning," Uhuru said.

The third element on the programme will target small and medium enterprises whose liquidity has been adversely affected.

Uhuru said the government has allocated Sh10 billion to fast-track payment of outstanding VAT refunds and other pending payments.

The fourth element is the hiring of another 5,000 healthcare workers with a diploma or certificate qualifications for a year.

"Further, we will set aside Sh.1.7 billion for expansion of bed capacity in our public hospitals," President Kenyatta said.

The government has also prioritised Sh3 billion for the supply of farm inputs targeting to cushion 200,000 small-scale farmers.

Uhuru allocated Sh.1.5 billion to assist horticultural and flower producers to continue accessing international markets.

To mitigate the impact of deforestation and climate change and to enhance the provision of water facilities, the government has allocated Sh850 million to rehabilitate wells, water pans and underground tanks in arid and semi-arid areas.

A further Sh1 billion has been set aside for flood control measures; and another Sh540 million for the Greening Kenya Campaign.

A total of Sh2 billion will be set aside to support renovation of facilities and the restructuring of business operations by actors in the tourism industry.

"In addition to this, funding will also be set aside to support the operations of our premier hospitality institution Utalii College to guarantee the steady supply of well-trained hospitality professionals," he said.

Uhuru said the government will also engage 5,500 community scouts under the Kenya Wildlife Service at Sh1 billion.

Additionally, support will be made available to approximately 160 community conservancies at Sh1 billion, President Kenyatta said.
