Dr Slaa awaacha mbali kina JK. Mbowe ampiku Maalima Seif na Lipumba
CHADEMA:Mabadiliko ya Kweli na Uhuru wa kweli

Slaa trounces peers in popularity poll
By Patty Magubira, Mwanza
The secretary-general of Chama cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (Chadema), Dr Willibrod Slaa, has been voted the most popular politician in the country in an online poll.
Dr Slaa garnered 180 votes, equivalent to 52. 33 per cent of 343 votes cast on the Jamii forums post by Wednesday afternoon, leaving 16 other prominent politicians in the country on his trail.
The Chadema deputy secretary-general, Mr Zitto Kabwe, has been voted second followed by President Jakaya Kikwete, former Prime Minister Edward Lowassa and Livestock Development and Fisheries minister, Dr John Magufuli in that order.
While Mr Zitto scooped 43 votes equivalent to 12.50 per cent, President Kikwete, Mr Lowassa and Dr Magufuli got 21, 15 and 14 votes respectively, which is equivalent to 6.10, 4.36 and 4.07 per cent, respectively.
The Chadema national chairman, Mr Freeman Mbowe, Water and Irrigation minister Prof. Mark Mwandosya and secretary-general of the Civic United Front (CUF) Seif Shariff Hamad garnered 10 votes each, which is equivalent to 2.93 per cent for each.
Another former Prime Minister Dr Salim Ahmed Salim got nine votes, equivalent to 2.64 per cent, followed by Dr Harrison Mwakyembe (CCM-Kyela) and prominent businessman-cum Member of Parliament for Igunga constituency Mr Rostam Aziz, who got eight and seven votes respectively, an equivalent of 2.35 and 2.05 per cent respectively.
The incumbent Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda managed five votes, an equivalent of 2.35 per cent, while the CUF national chairman Prof Ibrahim Lipumba, the national chairman of Tanzania Labour Party (TLP), Mr Augustine Mrema and Same East MP Anne Kilango Malecela got three votes each.
Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation minister Bernard Membe and Zanzibar President Amani Abeid Karume got two and one votes, respectively.
Over 17,000 members and visitors of the popular online forum in the country are allowed to take part in the poll that is aimed at identifying a politician whose conduct is considered most attractive to voters and is therefore qualified to become a government leader.
Some members of the forum, popularly known by its acronym JF, however question the criteria used for defining popularity, contending that although some politicians were well known throughout the country, they were poor in performance.
I will be grateful if I get clarification before I cast my vote, said one of JFs senior expert members, as another premium member of the forum wonders if Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has anything attractive to keep outspoken lawmakers such as Dr Mwakyembe in its fold.
Dr Magufuli could follow Dr Slaa closely if the politicians performance is considered as part of criteria used in voting, concluded another JF senior expert member.
Other opinion polls carried out in the forum touch on issues such as the union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar, the possibility of registering JF as a political party and the efficacy of the National Strategy for Growth and Poverty Eradication, popularly known as Mkukuta in its Kiswahili acronym.
On the union poll, over 64 per cent of the 206 voters so far are in favour of breaking the marriage between Tanzania Mainland and the Isles, as opposed to over 35 per cent who support it and 0.31 per cent who are undecided.
