Tusker beat Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia 5-3 on penalties to lift the DSTV/SuperSport Cup at Nyayo Stadium on Saturday after both sides had tied 1-1 in regular time.

Solomon Nasio missed his penalty while Tusker scored all their spot kicks to gift new coach Francis Kimanzi his first title.

A happy Kimanzi said it was a good outing. “I am impressed by the performance of most of the players. This is a work in progress and we hope when the season starts next year, we will be in top form,” said the former Harambee Stars head coach.

The coach handed the four new recruits at the club; Osborne Monday and Lloyd Wahome, who have been recruited from Mathare United, and the former Kenya Commercial Bank duo of Clifford Alwanga and Brian Osumba their debuts in the closely contested match.

Gor, on the other hand, were missing some of their regulars but coach Bobby Williamson still presented a strong squad for the game.

There was Dan Sserunkuma, Kevin Omondi and Paul Kiongera upfront as well as Edwin Lavatsa who are just from duty with the national team Harambee Stars.
